We've handed you your asses so many times' date=' it's not even funny..[/quote']The Yankees have won two playoff series and the Red Sox won once, oh and we got you the last time. Of the 3 meetings, only the series in 2004 was a come from behind record setting devastation. After 2004, the confidence of Yankee Universe was shaken. Until then, the Yankee fans never believed that the Sox would beat them. 2004 destroyed that myth, and you've been trying to reestablish the mythical dominance ever since. The fact is that 2004 will haunt you if they meet in the playoffs. Bluster away if you must, but you want us out of the playoffs, because you know that the Sox are the only team capable of wrecking your season.

The Angels say hello.
We both know that, but including the Angels would have ruined the effect of my "up you ass" post to Gom. Jeesh, will ya work with me when I'm sticking it to the Yankee fans. The Red Sox are their biggest threat and all of Yankee Universe knows it. Dipre, sometimes you have to allow for a little editorial license. For instance, "never" doesn't always mean never and "always" doesn't always mean always.

Oh noez, you took it the wrong way.

What i was trying to imply is that the "almighty" Yankees don't have one, but two teams who have the ability to buttrape them at will in the playoffs, and that both are probably going to be there.

You got that right. The AL Championship is going to have to go through Boston or Anaheim. Either team is a nightmare for the Yanks. Boston is also a nightmare for the Angels.

No. You guys get lucky in one playoff series and act like it's the norm. The fact is...you've beaten us ONCE. That's it. We've handed you your asses so many times, it's not even funny.

It's like the series in NY a few weeks ago. We hadn't beaten you, yada yada yada. We smoked you in four games. Then it was...we haven't won in Fenway...and we won that series too.

So...continue believing that ONCE is the norm. Just don't be shocked when it bites you in the ass.

If you think that was lucky, you are delusional. We out-played you guys and you CHOKED.

It's still a pretty big "if" concerning the Sox making the playoffs. The Yankees are going to win the division; that ship has sailed. I could be eating crow in a few weeks, but I highly doubt it. And the wildcard? Texas's September schedule doesn't exactly have them facing the '27 Yankees. A 1.5 game lead, at this point, against a team that's given up the fewest runs in the AL and is playing pretty good baseball isn't a certain ticket to October. And let's not forget the Rays. Neither of these teams is going to roll over for you.

If the Sox make the playoffs, I'm not worried. The Yankees are the better team, the last month has shown us this. At the very worst, the two are even. No one cares what happened in 2004, 2003, or any other year between the start of civilization and 2009...because it will play as big a role as what I had for breakfast when it comes time to play the games. The Yankees certainly aren't scared because the Red Sox beat them in 2004...these two teams could not be any more different now than they were then. Clinging to that year like it will somehow help the team succeed is delusional.

And don't act like the Angels can only beat the Yankees. They're a great team and can beat you guys too. Once again, what happened in previous years means almost nothing. They can, and have this year, beat you guys. The Yankees aren't the only team that have to worry about, as it was so eloquently phrased, "two teams who have the ability to buttrape them at will in the playoffs." The only difference is, the concern of not getting there at all is much, much, much more realistic a possibility and concern for the Sox than the Yankees. The Sox will have to put it all out on the table to go for the division and maintain that wild card lead...which begs the question, what will be left if they're playing in October?

Granted, anything could happen. Detroit will end up in the World Series and we'll all be scratching our heads. :dunno:

Dear butthurt Yankee:

The patchwork team you have faced the last two times out is not the team we will be bringing into October if we make it.

NY is easily the best team on paper this summer but they have some concerns of their own.

1 sabby is the arod of october pitching

2 burnett has an era approaching 20.00 in boston

3 chamberlain is a threat to breakdown at any given time.

4 arod will probably have to have an rbi for them to win a series

NY is the favorite to win it all and the # keeps going up on them every day.

they have played the best baseball of any team i have seen this year and the addition of Phil Hughes really bolstered their bullpen when it appeared that would be their downfall.

the addition of Tex has made their defense better and he's pounding the snot out of the ball.

Jetsey is hitting .330, Shemp Matsui is hitting the ball again and their role players have performed very well, have they peaked too early? Will Sabbathia gag another playoff series away? Will Joba Chamberlain finally admit that his mother and father are brother and sister? Can Andy Petite keep pitching lights out thru the stretch run and into October and finally will Arod do anything in the post season to remotely justify his 27M a year salary?

Its hard not to like the Yankees chance of winning it all but the only sure thing we know is nothing is certain in this, the only game where the defense puts the ball into play.

the sox are a nightmare for the yanks? You mean the team we just took 6 of 7 from over the last 3 weeks? Yep, nightmarish.

After they took the first 8 in a row, things are bound to even out.

LOL..

you won VS John f***ing smoltz who is no longer here

you won a 15 inning game because we had to throw tawaza in there

Bard Blew a save where you had to come from behind

not to mention our offense were asleep during that stretch

and then you beat penny who will not be starting in the playoffs

then we clobbered Burnett

and Beckett is usually better

The postseason is such a crap shoot. Anyone can beat anyone. Since the implementation of the wild card, think about the all unpredictable outcomes we've witnessed. If the Yankees make the playoffs, sure, I would rather face teams like the Tigers or the Rangers. But, in 1997, I wanted to face the Guardians. I wasn't worried about the Angels in 2002. I thought the Tigers would roll over for the Yankees in 2006. I preferred the Guardians over the Angels in 2007. I'm not going to take anything for granted, including a playoff spot.

Until the Yankees have clinched a postseason spot, I really don't even want to worry about potential playoff match ups. Yankee fans here have to stop talking like their team is a lock to make the postseason, because, in reality, they're not. Their rotation simply is not that good. I suggest that all Yankee fans do themselves a favor and worry about the next 37 games, instead of games after that that the Yankees may or may not take part in.

It's pretty ridiculous to throw these things out there, though, because it goes both ways.

-The Yankees played their first five games without A-Rod.

-One of the Red Sox wins happened because Mariano Rivera blew his only save of the season.

-Two of the losses were started by Wang and Hughes, who would not be starting in the postseason.

I don't think any of the stuff that I just said it particularly relevant, but neither is the stuff that you said either. These arguments always work both ways.

I made that point to say that both teams are closer than Jacko thinks

jacko thinks the yanks are way ahead

Well, I agree with you, but making up excuses for why the Yankees beat the Red Sox does not prove your point.

However, like I said, I think the Red Sox and Yankees are very close. This is not 2006. Go back and take a look at the pennant races from 2003 and 2004. I expect this one to be very similar.

Does Cano think the season is over or something? He's making mistakes that are hurting the team in big spots. He really needs to focus and not sour what has been a strong season for him in the last month.

AJ looks incredible today. Only one bad pitch. 10K's in 5IP' date=' only one hit, but the two walks ahead of it have the yanks trailing[/quote']

That is because he is a not an ace but a number 2 starter who is a top 10 starter in the majors and an ace when he's healthy.
