Ah, but it was more than just 1 start. It showed the plus stuff he was hyped to have.

Last yr, he had trouble sitting above 90. For most of the game, his fastball tonight was 93-94mph.

Last yr, he had a straight fastball that would get killed if the hitter was sitting on it. This yr, he's got 3 fastballs he uses interchangeably, a cutter in the high 80s, a 2 seamer around 90 and a 4 seamer in the 93-94 range.

Last yr, he couldnt locate a very loopy curveball. This yr, he tightened the break and seemed to have complete command of it after the first inning.

Last yr, he would shy away from using his changeup. Last night, I saw him use it multiple times in clutch spots.

Essentially, the pitcher I saw last night was not the pitcher we saw last yr, and that makes me very, very happy. AND, he had everything going against him

He was facing Detroit, one of the best offenses in baseball

It was bitterly cold

The umpire had a very, very tight zone.

But he had a good fastball. He located to all 4 quadrants of the plate. He put cut and tail on the FB to keep the hitters off balance. His curveball was more a hammer than a loopy Zito-esque curve. And the changeup was used more. He's progressed as a pitcher. Now, his next start, we'll get to see if he regresses or progresses. But the potential is certainly there, something that most yankee fans would have doubted after watching him throw last season.

Jacko has two dildos, his blue one is is called Philly, and his purple double-pronged one (which he uses with Gom btw) is called Jackie.

I mean, i asked him why would he share that much info with me, because quite honestly it's none of my business and i really don't care for his closet behavior, but he sounded really proud so i thought i'd share it with you all.

Jacko gets excited when the yanks have a guy who keeps the ball in the park, you cant really blame him.

hes had man love for boogaloo sean chacon, aaron small and briefl affair with al leiter.

on a serious note this guy has been pegged to be great but what arms have the yanks produced recently that have had big league success?

he should be excited

MJ was he hitting the corners?....you redundant prick....

Its actually good to see you excited again

Wang was developed and has a track record. But you are right, we hadnt developed a lot of pitching depth until now.

Joba looked dominant. High 90s, tight curve. One really tough innings, and outside of that, he was dominant.

I just took a piss' date=' and man, my dick was dominant. Just dominant.[/quote']

Jacko asks if it brought mid-90's heat and a "tight" curve.

I was actually more impressed with the velocity than anything else. That was my concern. He started throwing a lot of 2 seamers early on, and they moved, but the speed was down. Sitting 91-92 is not Joba, and if that was the pitcher he was becoming, then he needed to be moved to the pen for good. But if he throws 93-96mph consistently, then he's gotta stay in the rotation. As with Hughes, the results were nice, but the stuff was much more important. If he shows that kind of quasi control with that heater, that slider and that knee buckling curve, we'll be happy.

If that is the kind of stuff Joba will have, then keep him in the rotation. If that is the kind of stuff Hughes is gonna have, then we cannot send him down. We'll get into a quandary if Wang gets his legs back. Cause CC, Pettitte, and Burnett arent going anywhere. If Wang gets back to his 19 game winner form, then he's gotta stay in the rotation. Who goes out? It might end up being a good problem to have. But surpluses turn into deficiencies quickly, especially in the pitching department. I wouldnt transition any of them to the pen.

AJ had no location today, but he had enough grit to keep the team in the hunt through 7 innings. That was good to see. Pettitte tomorrow. See if we can extend the streak to 6. No, not win streak. Starters going > or equal to 6IP. That seems to be a good thing for us

as we ride into may i see trouble on the horizon.

4 out of the 5 in our rotation seem to be getting cranked, the only guy who is shutting teams down is Wakefield and we know that eventually he will come down to earth.

meanwhile NY has hit stride after the bitch slapping we gave them last weekend, their guys have been solid and the bats will make life easier..

the only advantage we can say we have over them for sure is on defense and in the bullpen...our starters have been less than stellar, lester being the biggest concern of mine with beckett a close 2nd..If we need John Smoltz and Wakefield to be stoppers we got some trouble.

Pettitte walking a tightrope' date=' no runs through 3. Yankees have a 4 run lead. Posada and Matsui have really come back strong[/quote']

Most of Pettitte's season, with the exception of his first start in Kansas City, has been him walking a tightrope.

Well that was bound to happen eventually. Huge spot here for Melancon.

EDIT: Gardner needs to be able to cut that ball off and keep the game tied. The Yankees have been extremely lucky all night, and it was going to run out eventually.

The Angels bullpen is pathetic. They gave up 6 runs in the last 2 innings. fuentes faced 4 batters and couldn't get a single out.

Just a SLIGHT dropoff going from K-Rod to Fuentes closing it out.

It's true. We both use the double-pronged one on your sister. Your father rents her out for 100 pesos an hour.

It'd be an awesome comeback if i weren't an only child.

But what i don't get is why two passionate "life partners" such as you need a woman to spice things up.

My prediction for 5/2.

CC pitches a good game. Papers write about how he's turning things around after his solid start.

Why?

Molina is catching.
