Pujols hit 2 HRs and drove in 4 more today.

His position in the major leagues stats leaderboard:

OBP: First.

SLG: First.

OPS: (Obviously 1st).

HR: First

RBI: First.

Runs: First.

BB: First.

BB/K ratio: (2+ 60 to 29!) First.

BA: 12th.

Sweet Lord, the man is a f***ing beast!

I was thinking about something today. What Pujols has been doing the last few years, especially this one, is really incredible. But, at least for me, it makes me appreciate even more what Bonds did. As good as Pujols has been he still falls well short (at least in some categories) of Bonds.

:thumbdown Bonds doesn't deserve anyone's appreciation. Cheaters rub me the wrong way. But I guess as a Yankee fan you've grown accustomed to it.

I'm really not trying to be controversial or anything, and there is no point to having this argument because it won't go anywhere. However, and I said this in another thread, what Bonds did, steroids or no steroids, is absolutely spectacular.

As for the Yankees crack, it doesn't have anything to do with that.

With the cocktail of hormones and steroids that he was taking, he essentially reversed or stopped the aging process. He was a HOF caliber player before his head started growing. He cheated age and the inevitable decline that comes with it. He had the advantage of playing with 15+ years of experience, but with the physical skills of a 25 year old player. Take any retired ballplayer with the benefit of all his experience and put him back in his 25 year old body and he'll perform better than he did when he was 25. What I found amazing was that while Bonds was on his Roids fueled run, he almost never went after a pitch outside of the strike zone. His pitch recognition was phenomenal, far better than when he was a young player. When he was young, the slider in the dirt was how you got him out. I have heard theories that the Roids improve vision thus helping his pitch recognition, but I have to think that 15+ years of experience had something to do with it.

Then you obviously haven't compared Bonds' and Pujols' 1st 9 years in the league.

Pujols is by far and away the better player......and it's not even close.

so its the first 9 years that determines who's the better player?

Pujols will NEVER touch what bonds did in 2001,2002,2003,2004

in witch he posted OPS of 1379,1381,1278,1422

Bonds career OPS 1051

Pujols career OPS 1056

we'll se how pujols does when he's in his mid 30's , I"m pretty sure he wont be anywheres close on what Bonds did at that age

I wouldn't say Pujols is by far the better player , Its pretty close

when Pujols career is done will have a better idea

Oh, I forgot. He's a good person. He's raising a Down Syndrome kid, so he would never do Roids. Of course, Pettitte prayed a lot too. According to him, he even prayed before he injected himself.

I meant what Bonds did in the later part of his career.

Steroids or no steroids, what Bonds accomplished from 2001-2004 is remarkable.

I realize now that I probably shouldn't have even made the comment. I guess I just hoped, and hope wrong, that Barry Bonds' name could come up without people bringing the discussion to steroids.

When you talk about what Bonds did while he was on steroids with reverence... of course someone will bring it up. It's only logical.

Speaking of juicing, a guy on my brother's summer team who roomed with Hank Blalock once upon a time in the Minors said Blalock juiced.

My comment was about his production. We know he took steroids. We know that, in some ways, it's tainted. However, his offensive production was still incredible.
