Diaper you are an idiot. They are both good speed, little power players with similar OBPs in their careers. No one is saying that Ellsbury isn't better. Just that Gardner is a poor man's Ellsbury. You're too thick to realize that.

They're both garbage.

Agreed.

Gom you are a retarded lawnmowing homer.

A) Ellsbury is the better player, as you have said yourself.

B ) I haven't stated Ells is great, my point is how much GARDNER SUCKS,and how much better Ellsbury is compared to HIM, yet some yankee fans wanna make him out to be the next George Brett or something.

So just do us all a favor and STFU.

Well I don't see how. Show me? I already showed you they're both good basestealers (which actually means nothing) and they both cover a lot of ground.

And Ells played 546.2 Inn in CF last year. Gardner had 160, that's a considerable difference. If you take Gardner's 66.3 UZR and project it to 600 Inn. I'm sure you get a UZR of around 5-10. Which is as good as Ellsbury.

Ellsbury has better power, and can hit for more average. But the difference is not that big. Considering Gardner's power is zero.

Don't try to make Ellsbury sound like an All-Star. I've been objective when talking about Ellsbury, he's going to be a solid CF. Funny, you're the one that always says I'm biased.

It's simple, you've stated it yourself, Ells is an upgraded version of Gardner, why demonstrate something you have stated yourself.

The only thing i argue against is the fact that you're making their dimensional similarities to be production similarities, and they are not.

Bottom line, Brett Garner is Jacoby Ellsbury lite.

Posted
Small sample size + taking MILB numbers into account when Ells is already putting up MLB numbers = Strike Three called and back to the dugout for you.

Ellsbury IS that much better.

Lol @ 160 innings sample size.....that ain't small, it's minuscule.

Based on what, his fluky 120 AB sample size in 2007?

Dude, have you looked at your posts? You wouldn't know objectivity if it sat on your face and wriggled.

A) Ellsbury is the better player, as you have said yourself.

The smartest thing you've thought of since passing your ESL class.

B ) I haven't stated Ells is great, my point is how much GARDNER SUCKS,and how much better Ellsbury is compared to HIM, yet some yankee fans wanna make him out to be the next George Brett or something.

This section shows how stupid you really are.

1) I never said that Gardner is any good. I think both him and Ellsbury suck. Gardner sucks more, that's all. In that case, he's a poor man's Ellsbury. They both are the same type of player, they both suck, and Ellsbury sucks less.

2) Don't look at me for saying Gardner is going to be a good or elite player.

So just do us all a favor and STFU.

Follow your own advice and go make me a cheeseburger deluxe, medium rare.

Hey Youk...you should have a screening process before you let these Red Sox morons post here...like, can they point to Boston on a globe or something.

Scouting reports and actual play, but suit yourself.

No, I want to see if they do it again, or if it really was a typo.

I can name two groups of humans that would laugh at that joke, or think to use it as humor. Not one of these groups have a fully functioning mind, and only one would be over age four.

George Brett was a third baseman, jesus. Is it so hard to name a good CF like DiMaggio or Mantle?

No one is saying Gardner is going to be a HoF 3B.

How do you come to that conclusion after watching Ells for the last 4 months of last yr? Gardner got a cup of coffee in the big leagues basically due to the yankee stockpile of veteran talent in the OF. All you can go on for Gardner is MiLB numbers. And the one thing that Gardner has routinely pounded Ellsbury on is his patience. Gardner's MiLB IsoPatience is .099. Ellsbury's is .076. Interestingly enough, they both have the EXACT same MiLB OBP (.389). That should tell you that the difference is minimal in terms of getting on base. Ells is a better bat man, I have given you that and he has more power potential. But the name of the game for these two will be OBP since both dont have much power and both can set the world on fire with their speed. And they are within one month in age of each other. Their similarities are too numerous to count at this point. To say that one will be better right now after Ellsbury is coming off a terrible final 4 months of 2008 is stupid. And saying that one sucks and one doesnt is outright wrong since both are so similar.

On a related front, Gardner went 3 for 3 today vs the USA team, bringing his total to 8 for 13 with 2 homers in the spring

Exactly how did I change my tune? Show me one post where I said Gardner was an elite player OR better than Ellsbury....

Idiot....I'm still waiting....keep searching....still waiting....keep searching...still waiting....

Diaper....you know what's funny? Jacko, of all people, has handed you your ass on this one. Not because he's right, but he's at least backing up his point with logic, and your head is so far up your ass to realize it.

Ellsbury had better numbers, no doubt. Both of them averaged about 1 steal every 10 ABs. Their defense is very similar, they both have average/below average arms and very good/great range.

OH...MY GUY IS BETTER, SO YOU'RE IDIOTS...that's your argument...except that no one is arguing who's better. All people are saying is that they are similar players.

It's like comparing Tex and Youk. Similar players.

It's not like comparing Arod and Lowell. Totally different players.

Similar skillset.

They ARE both baseball players.

Dimaggio or Mantle?

Seriously?

You make a stupid joke about how Brett is a 3b then ask me to compare him to Mantle or Dimaggio?

To that, i say lol.

And to you, i say lol as well.

Simple, you know they're similar players, but Ells has a more varied skillset.

Or am i wrong?

I expressed myself in a wrong manner, i suppose.

Because i was actually trying to exaggerate.

Can't pick up sarcasm over the interwebs, i guess.

In Diaper's eyes...

They both have Brett in their name...so they must be similar players.

How can we argue with such solid logic?

It seems that Diaper is your Jacko. Except that our Jacko is occassionally right, and backs up his theories with numbers. Once again, we trump the Sox!!!

He likes to keep his "i'm a 4-year-old" act up to date.

Even a four year old will respond when his/hers classmates, or friends don't find the joke humorous. Most will simply shut up. (Or cry)

Gom has failed this test. The only conclusion is that Gom has Tourette's syndrome, which protected by all laws of political correctness.

Sorry, but we can't do anything about it.

All this from me calling him Diaper. I love it. Hey, Crespo...are you upset because you wear Dependz? Just curious....

Seriously...with this going back to the Yankees CF discussion...I for one, hope that Brett Garnder wins. I'd like to see Melky as the late inning defensive replacement for Damon. In Yankee Stadium, Melky's arm is a big factor, and he has good range. Couple him with Gardner, and not many balls will fall in center and left.

This confirms it. Doesn't have a clue that he's doing something wrong.

You guys have at him, but I'm inclined to not attack the mentally challenged.

After two weeks of play...

Gardner .379/.438/.759 with 3 homers, 2 doubles and 3 steals

Cabrera .240/.325/.320 with a triple and a steal

If this truly is an open competition for the CF spot, then Gardner should take it. He's looked real good.

Gardner brings more potential to the table right now, but don't forget that he's TWO years OLDER than Melky. Melky has some time to regain his bearings.

I think the best Yankee outfield as the Yankees currently stand is Gardner in CF with Melky as the fill-in and late-inning replacement.
