On the NYDaily NEws site they followed the blog and conducted a survey asking if people thought he was telling the truth.

25% said they believed AROD...translation? If you stand next to three other people, the survey tells us that one of you is a f***tard.

Incredible answer from Brian Cashman when asked if he regretted giving that 10-year deal to A-Rod last season:

"Well, we're not in a position to go backwards on this. The position we're in is to try to move forward and make sure that we can help him get through this. We've got nine years of Alex remaining. … We've invested in him as an asset. And because of that, this is an asset that is going through a crisis. So we'll do everything we can to protect that asset and support that asset and try to salvage that asset."

What a f***ing embarassment for the Yankees and their fans.

One more reason not to give 10 year contracts, or any long term contracts for that matter. Who knows what is coming around the corner.

Oh... zing. You got me.

At least you acknowledge that it is embarassing.

I love how he tried to throw the "cousin" under the bus.

My cousin is now my scapegoat for all my wrong doings:thumbsup:

Did anyone here Johnny Damon's comments?

I get that the Yankees have to make comments to support A-Rod but it is possible to do that without sounding like a complete moron

"Yea, Alex was caught but he was caught at a time when 103 other guys tested positive. It really isn't fair that for some reason, Alex's name is the only one that came out."

The ends justify the means? You're probably representative of a large percentage of fans, regardless of their affiliation.

Personally I have never seen professional sports that way. The way they play, the way they conduct themselves has always been important to me.

If the shoe were on the other foot and we were talking about Ortiz, regardless of the outcome of the season I'd still be disgusted if he handled the issue by telling half-truths and insulting the intelligence of fans and teammates.

Funny but since I already knew the guy was on the juice, along with perhaps 50% or more of MLB players, the revelation that he'd tested positive was never a big problem for me. But the lieing and evasiveness under the pretense of "coming clean" spoke more about his lack of character than the usage did.

But that's your guy, Yankee fans...enjoy.

Is it so hard to say " I took it for the exact reasons everyone thinks I did. Kept me healthy, gave me increased energy, which helped keep me at a peak performance for a extended period of time."

He's so full of crap though. All the tough questions he danced around. He should have come out and said: Yes I took X and Y for 3 years. My "cousin" came and injected me a series of times from 2001-2003. What I did from 2001-2003 not only cheated myself but the game of baseball. I did it because I wanted to become an even better ball player than I was. I realize now that I did not need steroids to further my career. I am sorry for disgracing the game with blatant cheating.

Instead he relied on the old " I was young and stupid" excuse. I don't buy it. There's no way he doesn't know what he was injected with. A guy that as Michael Kay said on his radio show "doesn't eat cookies/chips/candy" doesn't know what's being injected into his body that could cause him serious harm? Are we serious? TIs this the full story? First he didn't do them, next he didn't know what he took, now his cousin injected him with some drug from the DR? Its just so fishy. I'm really sick of the A-Rod story, but this is going to follow the team around all year. A-Rod's naive if he thinks this is all behind him. It never will be behind him, ever.

I am sure that his cousin appreciates being implicated in this story. It was nice of ARod to drag his cousin through the mud. Maybe the feds will target him for trafficking and distributing illegal drugs. ARod is just a self-centered selfish jerk who is a coward to boot.

Yet polls show 25% of those responding to the surveys believe him.

Gene GRabowski (sp?) was on ESPN this a.m. He is a crisis management guy, a brilliant mind when it comes to PR and as much as he didn't want to bash ARod's handlers, he couldn't hold back. In his opinion they absolutely dropped the ball, and the result will be MORE questions and more digging among investigative reporters. Some of his specific criticism:

- Should have held the press conference with ARod in uniform, in front of a dugout, with teammates around, the sound of baseball in the background, the birds singing, etc.

- Should have prepared better...Gene thought it was a slap in the face to the fans and to his teammates to be as unprepared as he obviously was.

- Should not have read a prepared statement.

- If you're going to read a prepared statement, read it like you have some idea of what is ini it...sounded like he had no clue what he was reading.

- #1 rule...your job is to answer questions and put an issue to bed...not create more questions and highlight onconsistencies with what you said a week ago.

In short, Grabowski thought he had a great opportunity to salvage his reputation but has simply dug himself a bigger hole.

I'm with those here who say the right course of action is to say "I used testosterone and methenelone during that time period. They weren't banned at the time, and I used them to get stronger, faster, heal quicker, perform at the highest level possible. They are banned now and I do not use them, nor do I need them. Yes I cheated to gain an edge and that is unfair to the fans and to my teammates and opponents who chose not to use PEDs."

I have a feeling that the "cousin" isn't a cousin at all, but another player who Alex doesn't want to throw under the bus. What would his cousin have to gain by using PED's? He's not a pro athlete and he's not competing for a contract. Idk I just get the feeling that that's a load of BS.

Johnny Damon made a complete ass of himself. It was so painful to listen to' date=' but so funny.[/quote']

Yeah, but it's Johnny Damon. I don't expect a discussion on the validity of the Federal Reserve when he opens his mouth.

Heard the Damon comments. I knew he was an idiot but didn't know he was this f***ing stupid. Wow, he came across like a real neanderthal.

One thing though...when he said he doesn't condone steroids I was a bit taken back because I kind of had him pegged as a 'roid user around 2003-2004. Now he wouldn't say that if he had used, would he?

I wouldn't be shocked if he was a user.

A-Rod doesn't condone them either but he used

I can only speculate but George Mitchell didn't implicate Damon because Mitchell is a former member of the Sox FO and Damon was such a cherished member of the Sox?

This ain't over by a long shot.

The cousin has been identified and they'll start working on him. They'll find some dirt on him or one of his friends or relatives. They'll use that to strongarm him into revealing more information or get him to slip up...disclose some other name(s), and someone will be willing to talk.

From link above:

According to the official in charge of the agency which regulates pharmaceutical drugs in the Dominican Republic, Primobolan was not available for legal purchase, over-the-counter or with a prescription in his country between 2001 and 2003.

Dr. Pia Veras, who oversees the regulatory agency, told ESPNdeportes.com that Primobolan is known as "boli" in the streets of Dominican Republic, and was not legal for purchase during the aforementioned years.

"What Alex Rodriguez stated at the press conference [in Tampa] doesn't make sense," Veras said. "It is important for us to clarify that such substance has not been registered and is not currently registered for legal sale in Dominican pharmacies -- not now and the same applies for the years 2001 to 2003."

A representative of Rodriquez's disputed the accuracy of the ESPNDeportes.com report.

They're already digging into the cousins life...apparently they've identified the cousin's personal trainer...my hunch is that they'll go talk to this guy, dig on him, find some dirt and see if he'll disclose anything he knows about ARod's drug use.

Oh wait..this just in...apparently the New York Daily NEws reports that ARod was accompanied by a steroid-linked trainer during ALL of 2007. This trainer was banned by every MLB ballpark after having been found with a gym bag containing steriods and pins.

Not over by a long shot...this mother f***er just may be going down.

just wanted to be sure that those who are mockingly posting pictures of Teixeira--the latest Texas-to-NY (via ATL and ANA) transplant--are reminded that THIS is what most of us are thinking about today. Why don't you take a big picture of Angel Presinal and put him up on the board Diony? Go ahead, we're waiting.
