Peavy would want the Yankees to pay a "premium", i.e. guarantee his extension...but not the Angels?

f*** him. Enjoy season after season in 3rd place in Atlanta. Enough of players who don't want to come here. There are plenty of big time free agents who do.

I, for one, hope the Yankees don't get Peavy.

lol. Yankees might be seeing 3rd place season after season at the rate they're going...

Yes, the rate of one third place finish every 16 years.

Sigh. Why does every single statement that has some merit need to be refuted by stuff like this? Admit it, you see it, the Yankees as constructed (which I do think will change), will continue to finish in 3rd place. Until pieces are added, however, I will not change that statement.

Oh stop it. What's wrong with what Arod2212 said? Sox fan wants to take a shot at our third place finish, so he countered with his statement. One sided banter is no fun.

Well, the remark was in response to a comment about the Braves. Those 14 straight division titles really helped them out the last 3 years, didn't they?

Good. Peavy isnt a horse and thats what we need. We need a guy capable of fronting an AL rotation and giving up 7-8 innings a game. And there are a few of those guys on the FA market, where no return talent would be needed.

Say what you will, but injuries to Posada, Matsui, Chamberlain and Wang, they finished what...8 games behind the Red Sox?

The teams are much closer than you think, SOTK. I wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees, Tampa or Boston finished 3rd. Flip a three-headed coin, if you will.

The truth is, from the Yankees standpoint, the one solid pitcher they had was Moose. Let's say the Yankees get CC. From a standpoint of production, Moose and the top-tier free agent pitcher they sign wash each other out. Any other pitcher they bring in replaces the immortals of Giese, Rasner, and Ponson.

Fool yourself if you want.

This is the guy you advocated Jacko. Lets see if your GM can do the job.

Funny...last year, Kennedy and Cabrera were potential centerpieces for Johan. This year, they aren't enough to get 35 year old Mike Cameron. Sad....so sad.
