Let's keep it to one thread.

It might not be 100% fair but Varitek gets a lot of blame for the fail that happened in Game 7. He was up in multiple key situations, including top 9 representing the tying run, and he utterly failed to look like a major league hitter.

Could have, and should have won this game, but the Rays were the ones who got the breaks and did all the little things right.

He deserve a major cut back next year it he wants to come back. Three years and at most 7 million a year. I thought it was just a long funk going on, but damn, he's almost done.

We're going nowhere next year if we don't overhaul. If I had a say, Bye Varitek, Ortiz, Cora, Timlin, Wakefield...Which isn't going to happen.

This f***in sucks.

I couldn't stand 3 more years of this. I really, really couldn't.

Just let the man go and solve the catcher question some other way. If Tek comes back I want it to be clear that he is the BACKUP catcher, but he's a piss-poor backup catcher because he can't/won't/shouldn't handle one of the pitchers gumming up the situational stuff.

Really? We aren't going anywhere? We had the best run differential in baseball.

This team is going to be dynamite next season.

Ortiz and Wakefield deserve no part of that rant.

I do think that the end of this contract is the end of David Ortiz in Boston, but he's more than earned his money this year. As for Wakefield, what do you expect of a guy whose claim to fame is that he pitches a lot of average innings?

you wanna get rid of Ortiz after having one bad season that involved an injury to a key component to his timing. I love being a doomsday guy for the sox, but I wont even be dumb enough to predict that. Ortiz' end will come when the lower half gives way, and it isnt right now.

I'm going to the six pack in my fridge to vent. See you all tomorrow.

Here's looking to pitchers and catchers reporting!

Amen.

This team is going to be great in 2010, lemme tell ya. Along with whatever comes along from the free agent market, we've got Lars Anderson coming up and we'll be right in the middle of the peaks of Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Jed Lowrie, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jonathan Papelbon, Justin Masterson and maybe, just maybe, Delcarmen.

That, and we've got Buchholz, Bowden, maybe Johnson and Bard, maybe a few other guys to find spots for on the pitching side too.

it will be. We'll be back.

You can almost guarantee that the WC won't be coming from the East next year.

I'm excited to see what Pedroia (who should be the MVP this year) can do next year.

Considering the hitting was piss poor at many times this year, assuming the elders of the team like Tek will be getting worse not better, you think it would be beneficial to keep him? I think not.

I never said it was the people who I listed's fault, but I don't know that I would want them for next year.

I'm not sure Pedroia can physically get any better. He maximized his physical abilities in 2 yrs. That fact that he can hit 17 homers and just laser the ball all over the field as a midget in yr 2 is amazing. Fact is, he's gonna be a f***ing pain in the ass for the next decade.

Ditch Ortiz? New Jersey landfills are clearly affecting your health.

I agree Tek will be let go or at the least will have a greatly reduced role, but that's not what you said.

Wake will be back.

Cora, hopefully not.

Tek, hopefully not.

Timlin, not.

And I find it hard to take the post that says "Get Rid of Ortiz" seriously.

You said this last year, too...

I've said this with a couple other guys' date=' but Ortiz's stock is low. Keep him.[/quote']

Ortiz came into this season coming off knee surgery, and then missed a month and a half with a pretty serious wrist injury. Ortiz will be much better next season. Count on that.

Definitely. Our lineup will certainly improve, with a better Ortiz and a better catcher.

I think he'll slightly improve. 310 BA 20 HR and 80 RBI is what should be expected.
