You know what, enough negative ********. After this loss we can do 1 of 2 things. We can sulk and let negativity consume us, or we can say, f*** the have done it before why not again. This thread is all positive only. We have a 18-3 pitcher on the mound in game 5, and if we win, we have Beckett and Lester in the hole. Not too shabby. Maybe Ortiz's triple will set him off, and he can become a force again. I was a duesch for bringing up Manny, and thats the last time I will mention his name again this season. So for being a negative ass. LETS f***ing do this, and show Tampa Bay what it means to finish.

GO SOX!

Got Daisuke going in game 5, Beckett in game 6 and anything can happen game 7. On paper, that's matchups you can win, or at least survive.

Oh, this is great. The Rays celebrate in Fenway. You're hoping Dice-K can repeat a stellar performance, a pitcher who is suddenly healed and dominant in Beckett, and a solid performance from Lester who got bombed.

Good luck. I wouldn't put it past you guys if you had Manny, but without him...

If you had actually said something positive, i would have been worried.

In game 5, the Sox will be led by big games from our Japanese pitcher, African American CF, Dominican DH and Canadian Left Fielder. Haaa, and Ken "race-baiter" Rosenthal says the Sox aren't multi-cultural enough.

How about some Schllingoutteks mojo? That hasnt happened in a while.

LET'S f***ING DO IT. I'm going to the game too, so we have that going for us.

I'll make it right f***ing now. I don't care if it's two days in advance.

Remy just called it two ass kickings.

Edit: Two ass kickings like this must have Pedroia losing his mind. We need him to spark them right out of the shoot on Thursday.

We've been here too many times for this to scare us now. Now the Rays are in virgin territory trying to close the series out on the road and they're going to p-ay tight and let us back in the series. Meanwhile, everyone's got a chance to get healthy, get their bearings, and adjust to what they have. Beckett probably threw a side yesterday or will throw one today and Farrell will be with him trying to adjust his game so that he can get through his next start at the Trop.

We're something insane like 8-2 in elimination games since the Epstein regime came to town. This is what we do best, and I think we'll do it again!

ESPN says Madden is now switching Shields with Kazmir for Thursday night. This could be a case of the Rays over-thinking a situation. Kazmir in Fenway may be just the thing the Sox need to break out of the hitting slump.

I know that Shields has had bad numbers at Fenway, but i think you throw those out the window after how he pitched against them in game 1. I am convinced that there is something wrong with Kazmir. Maddon could be making a big mistake. You never lift your foot off the throat of the Red Sox. If kazmir lets the Sox offense get on a roll and get some confidence, the series could turn dramatically.

Well Shields is a dominant pitcher at home, and so is Garza. If the Sox beat Kazmir in Fenway and then those two guys at home - there's nothing Maddon could have done anyway.

I still think you set up your rotation to give you the best chance to win any one of the 3 remaining games.

Maddon's trying to set up his rotation to stop the series at 6 games. IMHO, that's a mistake, because you're weakening your hand on game 5 and increasing the risk of a game 7. if you initiate intercourse with the canine at your intended chokepoint, you're in a lot of trouble.

Pitching Kazmir over Shields has massive blunder potential written all over it. I'm in favor of this move. Maddon just might manage himself into a punchline.

Is he though?

If Dice outpitches Shields again, he's got a banged up Kazmir going against Lester for Game 6.

IOW:

If the Sox win game 5, they have the advantage in game 6 and then it's all hands on deck for game 7.

BUT

If Dice beats Kazmir, then we have a Lester/Shields matchup in game 6 which IMO tips the scales in Tampa's favor.

I think Maddon is looking to avoid game 7 at all costs, and IMO it's the right move.

I think Matsuzaka v. Shields favors them due to Daisuke's BBs and inconsistency.

Despite one game ago, I think Lester v. Shields favors us. I certainly think Matsuzaka v. Kazmir favors us. Battle royal in game 7.

Maddon reduces his advantage here, IMO.
