Timlin had been better in the 2nd half, Pauley and Smith just suck. I don't mind putting Timlin in in the 14th, it just didn't work.

There's no argument you can make that Chris Smith or David Pauley are better options than Mike Timlin. They all absolutely suck and as a manager, if you're forced to have either one of those three on the mound in the 14th inning, which Tito was, you just close your eyes and hope for the best.

 

It's very easy to blame Tito for leaving Timlin on the hill but the fact is, the chances of Smith or Pauley s***ing the bed were just as good, if not better.

I don't really know (with a lefty coming to the plate and the winning run in scoring position) how leaving someone in who lefties have destroyed this year is the same as bringing in someone who's been effective against them, but ok.

the offense is the reason we lost this game, not timlin, our pitching was fantastic for 13

innings where we held our opp to 1 run .

It wasn't the Pena AB that got Timlin in trouble, it's almost walking Iwamura on 4 pitches and giving up a hit to Baldelli.
