I understand that the playoffs are a long shot, but a win against the team you're chasing is not a "waste" with a month to play.

Again, not saying it's likely, but considering they do have a slim chance this was an important win.

 

Look, I don't think the Yankees are going to make the playoffs. Too many things would need to happen, but it still is possible. Possible. Not probable. Not likely. Not even a decent chance. But possible. And anyone who denies that should reevaluate their math skills.

 

And before I hear the argument that all the teams still have a "chance", the Yankees have a bit more of a chance than a team that's twenty games out of a playoff spot.
