I like this deal better the the Brew Crews. Only because CGC have a 1-2 punch of Zambrano and Harden for the next couple season possibly. Theres no way CC stays with the Brewers.

Sheets/CC

Webb/Haren

Zambrano/Harden

Those are some nice 1-2 combos that will be hard to beat in a short series if there in the PO.

I think the next pitcher to move is Bedard to Philly is hes healthy.

But really' date=' what are the odds that Harden stays healthy.[/quote']

With his velocity recently going down and potential issues of a dead arm....pretty good chances he won't. This seems like a reaction trade on the Cubs part, but I don't know if they really gave up anything worth a damn.

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you on that. Before the year, Gallagher was ranked #82 in the BA Top 100 prospects. In his minor league career he had a 2.77 ERA and a 9.02 K/9. He has struggled in his two partial MLB seasons, especially with walks, which have been a problem consistently.

Matt Murton, as I'm sure you know, was traded to the Cubs in the Nomar deal, basically as a throw-in, something a lot of Sox fans were pissed about. His career numbers are quite impressive, although 2006 was his only full MLB season. Over 4 seasons, he has a .294 BA, .362 OBP, .448 SLG (.810 OPS). It's too bad he hasn't been able to play every day besides '06, he is a damn good player.

Can't say I know much about the other two, but that's my 2 cents.

I think you misinterpreted what I meant. I don't know the scouting report on Gallagher, Patterson or Donaldson so I don't know if they are worth a damn....not that I don't think they are bad players because I don't know.

I missed the part where the Cubs also got Gaudin. If Harden doesn't work out at least Gaudin is a good pitcher and they wouldn't come out empty handed in the event Harden continues his injury woes.

ugly numbers on Rasmus's part. My bad. Stil i feel like if they were to make a good package consisting of maybe Schumaker him and some other high prospect gets it done

True - i recently read an article (by Keith Law maybe?) about how pitchers acquiered around the trade deadline ultimately don't make a difference. Not to mention the fact that the cards several quality pitchers that may return from the dl in the weeks to come.

i say milwaukee has the better 1-2 but ben sheets is always a threat for the dl...

but so is haren i guess..

zambrano is borderline insane and has a problem going deep into games due to him trying to K every batter he faces..i like sheets better and i like sabby better than haren but who knows what will happen when these guys see the new league.

the cubs answered big time with this move

i see the wildcard coming from the central unless the Mets start playing like theyre capable.

Webb/Haren is probably the best because neither has had a big injury history, unlike Harden and Sheets.

webb had been struggling after a smoking start

i dont know about brandon lyon either,he blew a couple games last week,1 in miami was truly pathetic.

i just dont have any confidence in any of these nl teams to wager on a pennant winner.

as of today the cubs are a solid favorite followed by arizona and the brewers.

theyre 20 games under 500 but if their pitching shores up theyre capable of getting back in this thing as theyre only 8-10 games out of the hunt.

that aint happening

theyre selling off come 7-31

so who has the best one-two punch in the NL central? Zambrano/(healthy)Harden or Sabathia/Sheets?

Wow. The NL playoffs will be fun to watch. Looks like the Mets won't make it unless they win the division.

if Pedro gets into any kind of shell of what he used to be and it sparks the Mets, you can add Santana/Martinez to that mix too
Posted

pedro sucks and he has the balls to be looking for a contract next year?

hes done nothing in 3 years except get paid and rehab his arm, foot, quad, calf and big toe.

its sinful watching him out there

monday was his best effort of the year to date and he gave up 2hrs in 5.1ip.

its sad to see this once dominant pitcher become the laughingstock of the league these days.

thanks.

Hahaha, man I'm sorry, I completely missed the Central part of your question. My eyes failed me on this one:D

I think Pedro can still be successful. I think he is capable of running off a string of 4 or 5 wins at any time.

Uh, yeah, sure, against the right opponents, with run support and strong BP efforts it might be possible, although I'd say it's highly improbable.

A look at his most basic stat lines ain't pretty. 3-2, 6.86era, 54 hits and 8 dingers allowed in 40 innings, 1.70 WHIP, .380 OBA, and opponents slugging .512 against him.

What's more likely...him ripping off 4-5 straight victories or him hitting the DL with a strained vagina?

The smart money is on Pedro's ****.
