Beckett's cruising. Struck out the side in the 1st two frames.

Youk and the ump weren't paying full attention in his AB, as they allowed another pitch, which resulted in a popup, after the 4th ball. FSN Florida replayed and confirmed that indeed did happen. Gameday says the first pitch was a strike. Does MLB manually edit the pFx data to not make themselves look bad at times?

That sucked out loud!

The Rays announcers suck too.

SEVEN K's for Josh. :)

WTF is up with the offense. One run in the last 20 or so innings.

No Ortiz, no Lowell, no Casey. It's good to see that we have a good future with the kids, but they are no replacement for the big guns.

Lots of that. Ellsbury needs to let the game come to him sometimes. When there are runners on he's impatient.

Didn't you call me stupid 2 weeks back for saying our offense is not very good?

I don't think it's only because we have players in dl. IMO - our problem is lack of power hitting to drive in runners in scoring position. Thats why out hit and run ratio is so disproportionate. This team has been too dependent on Papi and Manny and this year Papi has not been his own self yet.

Unfortunately thought the offense might have some hitting streak (like they had last week) - in general though they might be our Achielis hill for this season.

I don't recall calling you stupid. I do recall countering the idea that the offense will be liability on the season based on your description of the 5th out 30 being not good.

And, despite your proclamations, they lead the league in runs scored this year. I guess that is not very good.

Are they in a rough patch now? Sure, and that's going to happen. What's odd, and is the source for the lack of scoring, is the fact that everyone got cold at the same time (except Manny).

EDIT: By league, I mean AL. They are 3rd in MLB, but 1st in AEqR.

I'm starting to think that all of them are somewhat affected by the flu. Some just got it worse. I mean, it's hard to believe, given how much and quickly it spread throughout the clubhouse, that most of them are completely clean of it.

STOP SWINGING AT THE FIRST PITCH

I can't blame them there. With the zone Shields was getting late, they should have swung at anything that looked hittable. Here's a prime example. Lowrie in the 8th....

Pitches 1 and 3 were called strikes.

You did - well documented in some locked thread. Not that it matters much.

This is not my proclamation or anything - I have always thought we do not have enough power hitters in our line-up. We have been lucky with Papi and Manny - but that's asking them too much to do year after year. I do not have high hopes on Lowell this year - and I doubt if Drew can be the clean-up guy on daily basis.

The good news is everyone else is strugling in the division - but I am more concerned about offense than starters or bullpen.

Maybe I did, I can't remember. Anyway, if you think the problem with this team will be the offense and not the pitching, then you probably are, so it fits.

We shall see. It is better that way then name calling each other in message boards.
