I was piping all winter that the Yankees should trade Kennedy as one of the centerpieces for Santana. This kid is f***ing terrible. 87 MPH for a fastball at 22 years old? Are you f***ing kidding me? We could have had Santana by including this guy in a package deal?

Cashman should have been fired before, now he should be drawn and quartered.

Don't give me this ******** about one start. He isn't going to gain 8 MPH on his fastball in his next start. Or ever.

I'm going to be sick.

The only thing good about the game tonight was that at least sitting in the stands was nice. Perfect weather to watch the Yankees get bitch-slapped.

It's also time to cut loose Farnsworth. They should just release the guy if they can't find a sucker to take him off their hand. He's just wasting a roster spot. Tell you the truth, and I can't believe I'm saying this...but we'd be better off with Igawa. They are both terrible, but Igawa can at least eat some innings while sucking.

Igawa also pitched seven perfect innings tonight in the minors, where Kennedy will be soon. For good.

Yes' date=' because one inning (his first of the season) is a good indicator of how he'll do all season and in the long term. Nice leap.[/quote']

Did you change your mind yet? Let me know when you do.

Kennedy, Hughes, Wang, Joba, Hawkins, Farnsworth, and Mo. All 7 of them thus far are throwing 3-4 mph slower than where they are known to sit. It might have something to do with the damp, low 40 degree weather after throwing in the hot sun of Tampa.

Kennedy's deal wasnt his velocity either. He seemed to start everyone off with offspeed stuff, which isnt like him, and he was missing. Falling behind in the count when you are a finesse, location type of pitcher is a sign of a really bad outing. It forced him to come down the middle with his heat, which is exactly what he shouldnt be doing. When he is on, he is able to locate the heat on the corners early in the count and then drop either the slider, curve or change off the zone and get the K. He didnt jump 5 levels in one yr out of luck, Gom, he actually is good. And we knew he didnt light up the radar gun. This is who he is.

If you are going to be a whiny bitch about watching this team this yr, then maybe you should take a yr off. We have 2 rookies in our rotation and depending on what the Moose does, we could have 3 (Horne or Joba depending). At least early on, we are going to need to have patience with them and hope that the best rookie (Hughes) can tandem with our 2 horses and we can get something useful out of Moose. I am intrigued to see how Kennedy bounces back.

Sure didn't seem to affect Halliday, Burnett and McGowan. Maybe because they play in Canada. Wait...they play in a dome. Try again. Mariano was at his normal 93 MPH, Joba hit 98, Hughes was 94. It didn't matter what speed Hawkins and Farnsworth were throwing, it was coming back at them faster than they were throwing it. Even Mussina was tossing at 87-88....which was faster than this bush leaguer.

I disagree that he's good. Being at the game, and not in my regular seats, it was difficult to ascertain his location, so I'll take your word for it. All I can tell you was that Molina was trying to frame 98% of his pitches, which to me meant he was missing with EVERY PITCH. Irrespective of that, even if he becomes a serviceable starting pitcher, he will NEVER, EVER, be as good as Santana. Not in a million years. As the centerpiece of the deal, he should have absolutely gotten traded to get the best pitcher on the planet.

Hopefully we can find out how he bounces back in Scranton. Garbage.

Jacko, we fundamentally disagree about young players. You think every young player will eventually be a star player, and I think that same player will just suck for longer. If given a chance to move a prospect for a proven player, I will do it every time. The Yankees have money. If Kennedy ends up being good, why not go get him when he's a free agent? If not, you got the best pitcher in baseball for the next few years. Instead, we got nothing...on both ends.

What kind of wimp is Girardi that an upper-respiratory illness has him in the clubhouse and not in the dugout for the second game in a row. Take some cold meds and get your ass in the dugout! The Boss must really be out of it. There's no way he'd let a manager get away with this when he was in charge.

Yeah, it's a great idea to have a guy with a respiratory infection sit right next to the team for a few hours. Going into Boston next week, the last thing the team needs is even one of its players going down with something.

If only Gomes was as good at playing RF as he is charging in from it.

If only Shelley was as good at playing 1B as he is at going spikes up.

I love karma.

He can sit in the dugout without swapping spit with any of his players. He's a wimp.

BTW: Nice blown call by the ump at second base. Pena had that throw clearly beat.

At least the Red Sox aren't doing anything against the Jays. That's my only consolation at this point.

neither beast is playing well

both teams appear flatter than a 4 day old beerball

both teams got toasted by their back ups at 1st

our power guys are dormant and the table setters who can run arent on yet

ells is under 200 crisp is 235 duddy is 250

damon is 111 jetsy 211 and cano under 100

this will all change of course but the old days of running over the east are long gone for these clubs

toronto is legit and tampa can impress as well

these guys best pull out of it cause running together 10-12 game streaks is going to be a bitch this year

I think Tampa will give it a run, but I don't feel like they can run the entire marathon that the season is. Toronto looks like a legitimate AL East contender with the way they've been playing without Rolen and Ryan thus far. Both New York and Boston have a concern north of the border instead of each other this year.
