We're a Gagne 1-2-3 inning away from completing the "disapointing Red Sox players showing signs of life" checklist.

GREAT SUCCESS!!

How about activating Tavares for Gagne' date=' and use him out of the pen for the WS? Thoughts?[/quote']

You gotta win Game 7 before you can even get there.

This is why I laugh at the Yankee fans and select Sox fans on this site... who have proclaimed the Drew signing as one of the worst moves done by the Sox

There were some of us who didn't quit on him all season.

Jesus Christ the guy's the closest thing to a 5 tool player we have with tremendous talent. There is a thing called an adjustment period.

True. But can you really blame people for bailing on him? I mean seriously other than september he was just awful. He has the talent but he wasnt producing, and when you make as much money as he does, fans are less forgiving. I am still worried about his power decline over the duration of the contract however, I still expect a much better J.D. next season though.

I don't blame people for bailing on him. That's their decision, I don't give a f*** what they do.

And again, I'll ask any one of them to (a) get booed by 30,000 people, (B) have a kid in a body cast, and © have a wife who's 8 months pregnant and try to do their job effectively. Believe it or not baseball players are human beings, too.

Let's not even factor in playing in an entirely new league, which means new ballparks and hitting backdrops.

When I first read about his kid, I knew that he was in for a very rough stretch. It's a helpless feeling when your little kid has an illness, and his kid had a very severe and painful condition. That takes a toll on the parents. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, he has ended his season on a high note. People will remember tha Grand Salami and it will overshadow the rest of his season.

Drew is earning all his money now.

I'm as happy as anyone that Drew had a grand slam and the boatload of RBI, but it still doesn't negate his dog-crap season. I like Drew. I want him to be greatness incarnate. I seriously think he can become a huge part of Red Sox success. This game will go down in history as one of the great post-season moments in Sox history. It was wonderful. It was clutch (sort of). But I'm sorry if I can't agree that it totally negates the total lack of luster from 162+ games.

And to be totally clear, I don't understand why those who argued for Drew all season get so hostile. What exactly is it that you all expected? For everyone to say, "Well yeah, Drew is playing horrible. He's having the worst season he's ever had. Let's make him captain!" I mean, are we not supposed to be disappointed by bad performance? As fans, don't we get the option of saying, "Yeah, he's doing s*****!", and wishing for A> Performance, and B> Some indication that he's upset about his slump.

Honestly, I did not know about the situations with his wife and child. I have a wife an kids and know what that situation would do to me. It does make a certain amount of difference, I admit. I still don't think that complaining about a season long slump from a $70 million player make someone quite the giant ******* that some people seem to think.
