Why not? This should spark some lively debate for the postseason across all series, and not just the series we care about th most.

With the Rockies win tonight, they are in the playoffs for the first time since 1995.

The matchups are finally set:

AL - ANA/BOS; CLE/NYY

NL - CHI/ARI; COL/PHI

Here's how this will work...pick the series winner of each playoff series.

ALDS gets 3 points.

ALCS gets 5 points.

WS gets 10 points.

In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be the # of games played in the WS. Second tiebreaker is WS MVP.

Pick the winners in each:

ANA/BOS -

CLE/NYY

PHI/COL -

ARI/CHI -

ALCS -

NLCS -

WS -

Tiebreaker #1 (WS GAMES) -

Tiebreaker #2 (WS MVP) -

I'd like to see the first person here who is a Red Sox fan who doesn't pick the Sox. Boring.

I admit, I'm worried sick about the Guardians. Neither the Angels, or especially the Red Sox, worry me in a short series. If the Yankees make it past Cleveland, we are going to the World Series.

haha ok Gom. Seriously it takes starting pitching in the post season. While I'll admit that your starters are servicable, you can't expect any of them expect Wang to make it past the 6th inning.

You want objectivity yet can't produce it yourself.

So, so sad.

More than anyone here, I rip my team when they do wrong.

To Mussina and Clemens, the 6th inning is like a woman's g-spot. Often talked about, rarely if ever found.

Do you think the Yankees will win it all?

I sure as hell hope so. I really don't know. I like their chances in a seven game series, but these five game series scare me to death. To tell you the truth, I have absolutely no idea who will come out of both leagues. The odds are against them, as they are for any one team, but they have as good a chance as any team.

Last year, I thought they were the team to beat in the AL. Remember, the Tigers stumbled to the finish line, we went in hot, and I thought we would steamroll to the World Series, and the National League was a joke in my mind.

This year, every team has at least one, if not two, potential fatal flaws. We're going in as a wild card team, which is new for us, first time since 1997. I really have no idea. I can see the Red Sox sweeping the Angels..but I can see the Angels running on Beckett and Varitek in game 1, Lackey pulling a Kenny Rogers circa 2006, stealing game one, and sweeping you guys. I can pretty much say that about any and all matchups.

The Yankees did not go in hot. They went in bored having had a week and a half of meaningless games. They simply didn't turn it on.

That's correct, and if every team has a shot, picking the Sox is not irrational and says nothing about objectivity.

Beckett's a horse, Schilling's been good lately, and DiceK closed with a few pretty good starts (Francona's long leash aside).

The same can be easily said about the Yanks. Wangs a stud, Pettite's been good all year, #3 is a complete question mark.

It's a crapshoot. Am I wrong because I think the Sox will win?

The Yankees had won 4 of 5 to secure home field, and then gave up the last two games, while the Tigers completely fell apart at the end. I don't buy that not turning it on, they had won game 1, and were leading halfway through game 2.

Nope. Not at all. I just don't have as much confidence in my team as you guys have in yours. Not for any other reason other than the fact that the post-season is really a crapshoot in my mind. I will say this, I like the Yankees chances better overall, but I like the Sox's chances in the first round more. If you can figure that out, you are sharper than Jack Bauer.

That's true, but there is a difference between winning a few games at the end when you're playing for seeding, as opposed to playing games that involve whether or not you make the playoffs.

I was only responding to your comment that they went in hot.

Don't get mad, this my honest take on what I think will happen, not what I hope will happen.

BOS

CLE

PHI

ARI

CLE

PHI

CLE

6 games

MVP: Sizemore

I would also like to point out that 15 of the 30 MLB teams have made the playoffs in 2006 and/or 2007.

Sox, Yankees, Guardians, Twins, Tigers, Angels, Athletics, Mets, Phillies, Cardinals, Cubs, Rockies, Padres, Diamondbacks, Dodgers.

I think thats fairly impressive parity.

EDIT: And yes, the Yankees are the only team to make both.
