wasn't the TD pass last night his first in 5 years?

im from the same town and went to the same high school as him, haha thats why i said it

or could it be that the colts are a great team?

I think it's a little of both. The ravens said they treated it as their superbowl and it was very emotional for them. Last night they looked lost on the field. Couple that with the colts striking so quick it was over early and the ravens checked out!

For a little Jets input. It seems like Clemens is being turned into Pennington. I thought the point of taking out a QB with not much of an arm who made 2 yard outpass and hung recieves out to dry with a young gun was the go deep. Ive seen a transition in which their just trying to ride Jones and Leon, and we dont have that good of and O-Line to do such. But Cotch and Coles and (oddly enough) McCariens can surly catch passes, so send it out to them, but on that note, dont send deep ones to Brad Smith, I love the guy and he can do almost anything, but deep recieving with tight coverage is one thing he cannot do, Ive seen him drop too many to want to see that.

As for the Browns game yesterday, its not been two striaght years the Jets were screwed out of a TD, just yesterdays was and early one, not a late one. In case you missed it, Clemens ran a QB sneak on 4th and 2 from the 4 and I had the perfect seat to see the ball cross the plain but they called him down at the one, and the Jets didnt challenge because they probably expected a TD anyways, but then they had a goal line INT and that would have been a huge difference, oh well, gettin a better draft pick i guess. But back to game plan, Jone running up the middle on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down isnt working...throw deep...throw to Cotch, hes a play maker!

Now for the Jets-Pats game!!>>? Whose ready to see the Jets get that upset? I know I am. lol, well actually, I have a feeling the Pats are going to want to win likw 77-2, and the safty only be because they wanted to kickoff and pin the jets deep and have a shorter field when they stop them, but who knows, we went into NE last year and won. And if anyof you know me like I think you do, you do know my biasness expects the Jets to win, the only problem is you cant, like litterally cannot, beat the patriots by less than 10, its just not possible, so well have to see. Ill say either 54-13 Pats or 33-21 Jets

oh so I get it now.... if the pats only win by 7 or less it means that they werent playing their best game , or the other team was playing like a "super bowl team " so in the case of the ravens they kept their best for the pats and layed down for the colts right ?

Sheesh. My original post was in jest. I was simply making a comment saying how after they nearly beat the Patriots, the Ravens were so gassed that they couldn't bring their A game against the Colts.

Watching the game last night I also have to say those 30+ MPH winds may have had something to do with the Pats struggles on Monday night.

That and the Ravens bent over for the greatness of Peyton and the Colts.

the same wind the ravens were playing in

Just started watching the game this year, eh?

Here's the relevance that you missed. Wind makes the game harder for a passing team, the Pats in this case. This plays up the Balt D's strength, run prevention, and the difficulty for the Pats to score in those conditions, also keeps their offensive strength, running the ball, in the game.

Yeah but that kind of wind would affect and offense like the Patriots more than the Ravens. However... weather is a factor.

I'm not sure this Patriots team's built to win football games in the conditions they're going to have to win football games come playoff time -- they can't run the football, they can't stop the run, and their offense plays off of the speed of Moss, Stallworth, and Welker at WR. The Steelers ran the ball very well until they had to abandon the run, and the Patriots were awful on the ground. If they meet in adverse conditions in the playoffs... that seems like a huge advantage for the Steelers.

Poor conditions may affect a speed based defense like the Colts as much as it would the Patriots offense, but the Steelers are more of a "punch you in the mouth" defense and those types of conditions would play right into their hands, eh?

so the pats have locked 1 rd bye ...now if the colts were to struggle the next 3 weeks and end up tied with the steelers , who would have the other 1rd bye? If im not mistaken its whoever of the 2 who would have a better conference record ?

Yes. And if that's tied, I believe they look at the best W-L record against common opponents.

I agree, for the most part. Although, I think the switch to field turf will diminish the impact of weather. In short, I think those adverse conditions will have to be either heavy winds or snow.

EDIT: And, without that switch to field turf, I doubt we are looking at this version of the Patriots.

The field turf will diminish a lot of the 'elements' factor going forward. The footing has more to do with affecting the play than if it's raining or snowing. The Baltimore game; the pats didn't play well, looked tired, and got the ravens best shot. The weather was def a factor, but that's not an excuse for how they played because the weather didn't help McGahee run through the pats all night. The wind was terrible that day ( i live a couple hours away) and would def have an effect on the deep ball more than anything. The asante interception is a key example of that as that ball just died but it helped the pats.

The bottom line for that game is that Baltimore played great and the pats didn't. You could def tell during the Pitt game that the extra rest BB gave the team helped as they looked much better.

Colston has some really good hands. He just snatched that ball out of the air over his head when Brees rifled one over the middle. Nice 7th round gold for the Saints. Too bad it has to make up for a wasted 2nd pick.

I wouldn't deem Bush a failure quite yet, although he hasn't lived up to expectations so far.

I'm no Parcells fan, but I think he hit the nail right on the head in he pregame. He's another Eric Metcalf or Kevin Faulk. Capable of the big play, but not able to pound it between the tackles 20-25 times a game.

Bush is best utilized when you have a guy like Deuce carrying the load. He reminds me a lot of Westbrook from Philly. Right now, the Saints are in shambles and are requiring Bush to carry the load, which he just isnt equipped to do.

Difference between the Colts game and Pats game vs Baltimore

Kyle Boller coughed up 3 interceptions and his running backs fumbled twice, and there was a safety. It seemed like all of them put the Colts in great field advantage. Heck the Colts won with Peyton throwing just 249 yards (13 completions) and no running game against the Baltimore D. The good teams will make you pay when you make mistakes, and that is just what Indy did

During the Pats game, there was just 2 turnovers (1 interception, 1 fumble).

Except Westbrook can hit the HR and carry the load.

Merriman saying his injury wasn't an accident

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3149230

The newspaper said that several Chargers told Merriman that Titans center Kevin Mawae and another player were involved in the play with intentions of hurting Merriman.

While i can't stand Merriman, this isn't a surprise. In the season finale last year the pats played the titans and the same thing came out with the Rodney Harrison injury. Many respected pats players (bruschi, seymore, vrable) said that they were told the same thing and that Fischer was laughing and taunting them while Rodney was being attended to on the field. Rodney would have been able to come back for the superbowl, if they had made it that far.
