You suck at math.

Papelbon has 5 saves in 5 innings vs the NL West. 8 Ks. 2 hits. No BB. 0.00 ERA

Over the latest interleague matchups vs Toronto and Tampa Bay, Saito has 5Ks in 3 innings, 2 hits, no BBs, 0.00 ERA.

I realize the one game that makes any difference is when Matt Stairs golfed a solo shot off a Saito pitch in the dirt.

Saito is a very solid closer, no doubt about that--and he has done some of his best work against the Giants and Padres. However, you cannot be real and try and tell any of us that you would take him over Papelbon. You cannot be serious.

The Dodgers? Even though I predicted they would win the West, it looks like improved teams like Colorado and Arizona are in the race to stay, and the Padres are as great an overachieving team as there is.

My bad  , point still stands since that only makes Papelbon look more dominant. And I think the game where Saito blew a save vs. an AL East opponent should stand, or are we selectively choosing which games to include or exclude? In which case I'd like Papelbon's 2 runs vs. OAK removed from the records which brings his ERA down to 0.98.

Papsmear? Middle school-ish nicknames for players is just sad

Riverside, grin and bear it. yeszir let these guys on the board to avoid a "war". You either go along to get along or get out. Sad, but that's the way it is. Hopefully, the better angels of their nature will take over and we can have some real baseball arguments and none of the petty s*** that we've seen.

After the 6/22 performance.....

Holy s***, the guy is just filthy. I am glad we have the best closer in baseball pitching on our side. He is just absolutely filthy. Fastball 88-96 with good location, and 2 absolutely filthy Mr. Splits. After every swing and miss, or every painted strike on the outside black I sit there and think....OMG they had no effin chance. I cant think of another time I felt this way about a closer in Boston. Flash had his run, but not this kind of dominance.

Thoughts?

Chin, I was there watching Papelbon Friday and Sunday and you see it as it is. The guy is absolutely unreal. That last pitch to Adrian Gonzales on Friday just disappeared when it got to the plate. Adrian missed it by a foot. No s***!!!! I know some of the Dodger crowd here are talking up Saito and he is a good closer, a very good one. No one, however, is in Papelbon's class---and to think he is only 26 years old and wants to close for his whole career. Hell, he hasn't even entered his prime years yet.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Ever hear of this guy Gagne? Are you saying Pape is going to win the Cy Young this year?

You don't sound like you're worried a bit. Worry. Worry very badly. What is it? Four in Arizona and three at home against the Padres? You blow these two series and you might yourselves up s*** creek.

Why don't you read the post as is written and not try to insinuate any hidden meanings. I'm talking about the here and now. Are you honestly trying to compare Gagne with Papelbon at the present time? You're not that nuts. Gagne a few years ago was the best around. He is no longer that; his arm, elbow and legs have given him nothing but trouble the past few years. Red Sox fans worry that Papelbon could go the same way, but he takes better care of himself than Eric did. No pot belly and better conditioning and eating habits if you care to know.

Should I follow your lead and pick a winning team if my team is not doing well?

Save it!!!!!! No one except maybe Crespo believe that s*** around here. I follow my Red Sox all over the country and have been making trips for the last six-plus seasons. I wonder how many times you go to Dodger Stadium to see your club. So cut the crap about bandwagon ********. No one is buying it.

God I wish all of the dodgerblue guys would just get banned. I am sick of them always comparing us to them, and our league to theirs.

Who gives a f***ing s***. We are not Dodgers fans, nor do we give a s*** about the NL West. This forum is the REDSOX talk designated forum. There is a general baseball forum for you to discuss your s***** Dodgers.

This thread is to discuss Papelbon.....not Saito, not the Dodgers not who faced who. If you wanna debate the closers.....make another thread and stop trashing this one.

I dont get why all these trolls can just say whatever they want. If I did this s*** on another teams fan forum, which I wouldnt anyway because the realities of a real meaningful life take away from my MLB blogging time....I would beimmediately banned.

I lurk at NYYfans.com......when a guy goes on their page and makes a single unruly comment he is instantly banned.

Back to Papelbon talk please...

Part of the Dodger Blues deal is that you guy's can't derail all threads and turn them into Dodgers threads. There's basically no link between the Sox and Dodgers. A thread about Papelbon shouldn't turn into a thread about Saito.

Re-posting this as a reminder. You've already been told once by Yeszir.

This isn't a thread about Saito. Lets cool it. This is a thread about Papelbon in the Sox forum. General baseball is where dodgers stuff belongs, if you wanna continue the debate, make a thread there but as far as this thread is concerned leave it alone.

Chin, unfortunately you are wasting your time and typing fingers. Those DB guys were let on because they threatened to cause havoc if we didn't let them on and now the genee is out of the bottle. I don't know why yeszir did it but he did and we have to live with it or leave the board. I and others who challenged these guys on DB found that we were open season and not only us. They called my wife, daughter and grandaughter vile names and it was something that would not have been permitted or is permitted on any other board. Now some of them are here and many of them are here to cause nothing but trouble. It will be up to the rest of us to deal with them when they talk baseball but let them have it when they get personal or try to make this a shithole Dodger board.:thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown

Fred, we are having a fine baseball argument here. We don't need your whining about yeszir to derail this debate.

Looks like this is not the first time Fred has seen baseball in DC.

Fred, I didn't want to bring this up again, but your flip-flopping is legendary. Maybe people haven't figured it out here, but there are at least 10 other boards that you are a member of. We have seen you posting at Cubs sites, Yankees sites, Giants sites, Angels sites, etc -- showing your interest in those teams. Those sites have been linked on DB. We don't need to go on with this, but please stop the charade.

To get back to baseball, Papelbon is indeed a great closer. I am not disagreeing with that. I just think that Saito has matched him this year stat-for-stat, if not bettered him. Agree to disagree.

Fred' date=' we are having a fine baseball argument here. We don't need your whining about yeszir to derail this debate.[/quote']

We're not here to talk about your friggin' Dodgers. You want to start a Dodger thread, go ahead. I'm sure the moderators won't mind, but most of our posters save for your convert friend Crespo don't find talking about your s*** team to be either pleasurable or uplifting. And for any of you to even intimate that Saito is in the same league with Papelbon, well, I knew some of you didn't know s*** for shinola about baseball, but you didn't have to be so blatent and prove it beyond a shadown of a doubt. And it isn't whining; Dodger fans do that between the third and seventh innings between running our for beer and hot dogs. It is called ranting and we don't want to hear about the Dodgers. Save it for Dodger Blues.

This thread would have stayed baseball if Fred would have stayed out of it. btw, if Fred has been a fan for the Sox for only the past 6 years then that mean he has only followed the team for 5% of his life.

Chin' date=' unfortunately you are wasting your time and typing fingers. It will be up to the rest of us to deal with them when they talk baseball but let them have it when they get personal or try to make this a shithole Dodger board.:thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown[/quote']

Since you can't read what Crespo said because you ignored him...

STOP RESPONDING TO THEM. YOU'VE SAID YOU'LL STOP 50,000,000 TIMES BUT YOU ALWAYS TALK s*** ABOUT THEM EVEN IF IT'S INDIRECTLY. STOP TALKING ABOUT DB. KTHXBI.

EDIT: Oh wait, the thread's closed  He can still see it though. And yes, this thread sucks.
