??? Depending on what ever happens throughout the season, The rotation could look anything like:

Schil

Beck

Matsuzaka

Wake

Lester

or Lester and Wake switch spots. Either way, Wake only faces the Yankees ONCE in a 7 game series. What's your point anyway?

the yanks have beaten the sox 4 of the last 6 , wake pitched 2 out of those game and lost both of them , in a 7 game series wake would only pitch one game against them . whats so hard to understand ?

I can't believe people really thought that our lead was going to stay in double digits. Absolutely unbelievable. You KNEW it was going to be a race to the finish' date=' and you knew that the Yankees were never quite out of it. Now, I'm not worrying about it just yet, but when the lead gets down to about 5 games, then I'll start worrying.[/quote']

Did I ever say I thought it would stay up there?

It's the momentum that has me worried right now.

And in the most recent of them they hit Beckett pretty decently and A-Rod hit a homer in the top of the ninth of Papelbon to break the tie. Mo then came in and shut us down to give them the win.

As things are RIGHT NOW, we would not want to face the Yankees. Come October it could be a different series, but between our offense giving us no support and Schilling and Matsuzaka being inconsistent, the Yankees offense is not the one that I want our staff to be facing right now.

I don't believe in momentum. Momentum gets you as far as the first pitch of the next game.

The Yankees just flipped a switch and are red hot right now. They're playing how we expected them to, and how they should be (albeit right now they're a little over their heads. We were over our heads until Oakland also though).

The precipitously declining Helton with another RBI.

Zing. I was in favor of getting him if for a reasonable price in prospects (I didn't care about the $$ cost as much... ain't my money! :D )

The announcers gave some stat about him yesterday. I think it was career OBP. He was in the company of William, Gehrig and one other all-time great. He is an all time great hitter to be in such select company.

Two nights ago they gave a stat that was something like the only player to have a career AVG above .325, OBP above .400 and Slg above .590. The group included Gehrig and Williams and a two other hall of famers.

Yeah, he's in the top-10 of qualified players in OPS. Of course, when you adjust for park and look at OPS+, he's tied for 55 all-time with Albert Belle, Chipper Jones, and Harmon Killebrew among others. The impact of where he played cannot be understressed when discussing him with the all-time greats.

Best record in baseball. They are still in the drivers seat. Did anyone expect it to be easy from here on out. It was predictable that the Yankees would do their typical early season swoon followed by mid-season dominance. Pretty standard it seems.

EDIT: This was in response to an earlier post. I'm not just blathering to myself. :D

Oh, no doubt. But these games against weak NL teams are gimme wins. They can't be sucking these games away. The offense needs to find its life.

Josh Fogg should not have had as good of a night as he did last night.

f***. Stranded 2 runners. Seems to happen every inning.
