NO, Papi or Drew should have PH for the pitcher in the 7th with no outs and the lead runner on. Sacrificing Cora for 2 .200 hitters is HORRIBLE managing.

Now another automatic out at the plate.

My point is that Dice K beat himself today. When you scatter 4 hits over six innings not giving up more than one hit in any inning' date=' you should not be giving up any runs. He gave up two runs because he walked too many guys. Is it a good game? Yes, but there will be the games where he gives up 8+ hits and if he continues to walk 4 guys per 9 innings, he will give up a lot of runs in those games. An ace keeps you close in the games when he gives up 7, 8, or 9 hits in a game and he shuts down the other team when he gives up fewer than 5 hits. Dice K's walks are costing him wins in games where he's had great stuff, and he gives up a lot of runs when his stuff isn't so good. He's a good pitcher. Why is every criticism on these boards taken as an absolute damnation of a player. Next Riv will accuse me of hating Dice K. I love his stuff, but he is hurting himself, and he'd be the first one to say it. I'll bet he is very unhappy with his performance today. Until he stops hurting himself with the free passes, he will not be a #1 or 2 ace. I think he'll work things out and become more consistent, and then he will burn through batting orders, but tonight he beat himself.[/quote']

I'm not jumping all over you, just saying that if Dice K pitches like this we should win...especially against the NL west

This makes absolutely no sense. You have a chance to skip your worst offensive player with your best, when you have only one out left, with two on down 4, and two producers after this spot. It makes zero sense.

That said, prove me wrong, Coco.

So you dont agree that Tito has made mis-managed pinch hit calls?

Do you struggle with reading for content? I said the moves in the 7th made no sense. I said he'd be wrong if he let Coco hit with runners on in the 9th. The time you were calling for Ortiz to hit, with 2 out none on, was the most irrelevant time for him to hit, and that is all I took issue with.

Hello 9.5 game lead.

f***ing Timlin, f***ing Pirates.

f***ing Pirates is right; they are a s***** team managed by one of the three shittiest managers in baseball. They could have mailed those three losses in; nothing was more certain that they would roll over and play like the disgusting jackels they are. Still, we didn't take care of business today and since Lugo got a hit in his last trip to the plate does it mean he stays at leadoff for another week? Knowing Francona I already know the answer.

This is unsettling how pathetic the offense has been on this road trip. We need a manager who knows how to form a lineup. Youk in the 3 spot, the 2 weakest hitters leading off, etc etc. How does he get away with this s***?

Ortiz was given the day off so no ill thoughts toward Tito to putting Youk at #3 in the lineup

Game 3 of the Rockies series is lefty starter Jeff Francis... even though Drew is 3 for 7 against him, Tito will probably play the Nixon card and sit him

The problem I have with putting Youk 3rd is that he isn't a power guy. He is an OBP guy. Youk belongs either 1 or 2. If anything, they should put Lowell higher up. Then again, I don't like Ortiz and Drew sitting (where Drew is hot). We had a HORRIBLE lineup today. I don't ever want to see such a weak lineup again.

Speaking of irrelevant, the whole game was exactly that when I saw that both Drew and Big Papi were riding the pine and Crisp was still in the lineup. What the hell are we paying big money to our Nos. 3 and 5 hitters for?? To sit when a tough lefty is pitching? ********!!!!! They should have been in the lineup. I could also mention Lugo still in the No. 1 spot but enough said already.

Ted, Francona is a horrible manager when it comes to strategy. He is there because he is a players manager and is pliable and cooperative with the FO. In other words, he will not rock the boat. All he might do is sink the ship and take us all down with him. The last two games were butcher jobs by the guy. It looks to me like he is entering a June swoon.

Rockies next, should take at least 2 out of 3

Tim Wakefield vs Aaron Cook

Curt Schilling vs Josh Fogg

Josh Beckett vs Jeff Francis

I've said it before and I will say it again and again and again......Tim Wakefield should not be starting any opening game of a series for us. It is an invitation to a disaster. He walks too many batters, always seems to have a bad inning or two no matter how well he pitches and the players no longer like playing behind him if the support he receives is of any indication. We need an offensive explosion Tuesday night or we'll be down 1-0 in the series. I have very little confidence left in Wakefield. I think he is just about done.

Just out of curiosity' date=' who are the other two? Perlazzo? Torre? :D[/quote']

As a Red Sox fan Youk that should be a no brainer for you. One is Grady Little. I'll let you figure out who I think the other guy is.

Ortiz wasn't in the lineup because it made most sense to sit him today. You have to get Lowell, Youk, and Ortiz in the lineup equally and against the lefty today...it made sense for Ortiz to sit. Drew on the other hand....I don't understand that. Drew hits lefties substantially better than Nixon did, so I don't understand why Tito is using him like Nixon. Not to mention that he's red-hot right now.

You don't???? Well, sorry my friend. Remember who our manager is. You will see it again and again over the course of the season until the FO steps in and says enough of that s***---which they probably never will.::dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

I understood using who them did. RJ isnt your typical lefty. This isnt Doug Davis. RJ eats lefties alive, even at his advanced age. Putting Drew in the lineup would have been adding an automatic out. Even though you hate it, WMP and a fastball pitcher is something you do most every time if that pitcher is a lefty.

Schill-----National League rules. Tell me, do you hold that league in as much contempt as I do? No wonder they are so inferior to the AL; at least we are in the 21st Century. Sure, I love the strategy of walking the eighth man to pitch to the pitcher, or, perish the thought, go after the ferocious NL eighth hitters and try to get the pitcher to lead off the next inning. Right!!! That's why I do to games----to see stuff like that.:thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown

I heard Tito say the reason he left Drew out of the lineup today was to not screw him up. He's been getting his swing back and facing RJ could screw him up..so he sat him.

They should just make both leagues have the same rules. Teams would be so much more balanced that way...NL teams would actually construct their team for the DH. You can still have interleague play and two seperate leagues...it just makes interleague play more interesting.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Are you serious?
