Sorry about the tech problems guys, they're in the process of updating the server and can't seem to do that without constantly crashing the database.

If he stayed away from the walks' date=' he'd be up 1-0 and he'd be able to go another inning. Now, we need three innings from the pen. Schilling didn't get much offense in his last start, but he didn't hurt himself and cost himsself the game. It's one thing when your team gets shutdown by a Lenny DiNardo. The offense takes the blame there, but when you are squaring off against Randy johnson, you have to figure that you will not get many runs, so you can't put guys on with free passes. Aces win these type of games. They don't just pitch well and lose.[/quote']

He deserves to be shot for giving up 2 runs

I knew it...as soon as i saw Timlin my first thought was "well it's over". I guess Tizzle gets the whole day off unless Timlin can get out without anymore damage and we can actually do something in the 9th.

As usual, you overstate the case. He did pitch well, but he cost himself the game with his lack of command. Don't blame the offense. He should have left the game after the 7th or 8th up 1-0.

Timlin since 2005 has been a hack with inherited runners. Sox need to call up San Diego for Linebrink
But he has been a very valuable contributor when starting an inning.

Yes. All pitchers, to be considered worthy of their contracts, should pitch 7-9 scoreless innings, with no walks, every single time. By giving up two runs, Matsuzaka cost us the game.

The offense has been pathetic for the majority of this trip, and that includes today. We can not expect to win 1-0 games and shouldn't with the payroll we have.

I was cooking some dinner for the kids, so I missed the play until they showed a replay. Timlin is so bad, he can't even get free outs.

My point is that Dice K beat himself today. When you scatter 4 hits over six innings not giving up more than one hit in any inning, you should not be giving up any runs. He gave up two runs because he walked too many guys. Is it a good game? Yes, but there will be the games where he gives up 8+ hits and if he continues to walk 4 guys per 9 innings, he will give up a lot of runs in those games. An ace keeps you close in the games when he gives up 7, 8, or 9 hits in a game and he shuts down the other team when he gives up fewer than 5 hits. Dice K's walks are costing him wins in games where he's had great stuff, and he gives up a lot of runs when his stuff isn't so good. He's a good pitcher. Why is every criticism on these boards taken as an absolute damnation of a player. Next Riv will accuse me of hating Dice K. I love his stuff, but he is hurting himself, and he'd be the first one to say it. I'll bet he is very unhappy with his performance today. Until he stops hurting himself with the free passes, he will not be a #1 or 2 ace. I think he'll work things out and become more consistent, and then he will burn through batting orders, but tonight he beat himself.

Tito gave up on this game in the 6th. Anyone else starting to get a bit concerned about our lineup? There are automatic outs developing everywhere.

No he didn't.....I like giving papi the day off instead of a ph appearance where even a HR is meaningless. If the sox get some people on you will probably see him.
