The way I look at it, if you are going to get beat, get beat good and proper. This was you can't second guess yourself as the Yankees did today in their close loss to the Mets. Hansack doesn't look like he can cut it in the Bigs if what I've seen of him is of any indication. Our future prospects on the mound are Bucholz and Bowden, maybe Cox or Bard----not Hansack. As for Gabbard, we'll all see for ourself tomorrow. One good thing, though. Francona finally knows how to use Pineiro. Mopup in games we have little chance of winning. That way when he get bombed all to hell we can just nod and say I told you so. We picked up a half-game today. Not that bad a day's work.

Well, tonight's been sucking..but did we really expect to win 4 straight double header games? Especially tonight, Hansack vs. Smoltz?

Nothing to get down about. Between last night and today, we've gained another game over the Yanks. This is such a weird position to be in though. Hansack just doesn't have the velocity to be a ML pitcher, so hopefully Gabbard will do his part tomorrow and show us that he's worthy of filling in for Beckett for another start. When's Beckett eligible to come off of the DL again?

The only thing that matters to me is the series against the Yankees. We really should sweep them, but 2/3 in the Bronx is good for me.

Beckett officially went on the DL the 14th...so i would guess the 30th is the first day he can pitch again. the 30th is a wed at home against cleveland....or (off thursday) wait till friday at home against the skanks

ah whatever, we're still 29-13 and 10.5 up on the yankees. disappointed the bullpen got shelled like they did but it was just one of those nights. doesnt matter if its 14-0 or 2-1, it counts as the same thing in the standings

I questioned Tito changing the matchups so that Dice-K was pitching against Lerew the rookie, and Hansack went up against Smoltz. Smoltz has always dominated the Red Sox, while Lerew looked very hittable (before the games). I don't like when you switch the matchups to try to garantee a win, and give yourself a very tough game, rather than take a shot at giving yourself a chance to win both. When your hot, you go for 2 wins, not 1. Tito didn't take that route and I think it was a mistake. As I had thought, Lerew sucked, the Sox destroyed their pen, while Dice-K pitched well. And as I also thought, we had a lot of trouble against Smoltz and Hansack wasn't effective. Had we made the right matchups (Hansack-Lerew, Matsuzaka-Smoltz) we could have very well battled out 2 wins, or at least had 2 close games. Instead, we blowout the first and make Matsuzaka's start meaningless, just getting outs, while we then get blown out by their Ace. Its simple logic, when you throw up a rookie against an Ace, generally, the Ace will win. With a team this hot, we should have gone with the ideal pitching matchups in the LONG run. I hate seeing the Sox get destroyed like that when they didn't need to be. I hope Tito doesn't make similar mistakes in the future. When your hot, you go for 2 wins, not an automatic one.

And ya, Hansack looked horrible again. We have Gabbard, Pauly, and Bucholz has looked great. Lets see how they can do when we have a spot to fill.

Teams lose series, you know. If it means losing 2/3 to the Braves in order to have a greater chance at sweeping the Yankees then so be it.

You act like you've never seen a team play a double header or go through injuries. You're going to see a Gabbard or a Hansack in the rotation now because of Beckett. And you're seeing both Hansack and Gabbard on back to back days because the double headers f***ed with the amount of rest days our starters are getting. Back away from the ledge, dude. The Sox still have the best record in baseball, and they're still 10.5 up on the Yanks. That's all that matters.

Hudson vs Gabbard tomorrow. Ugh. I don't like our chances. We could be looking at losing our 3rd series.

The Sox own Hudson - Lifetime vs the Sox he is 3 and 7 with a 5.80 era. At Fenway he is 1 and 4 with a 7.92 ERA. I like our chances here.

All I was saying is I think its going to be a very tough game, I'm not about to kill myself about it, I'm just making an obvservation. And my "rant" wasn't about putting someone else on the mound, it was changing the matchup. Id much rather see the 2 rookies going at it and then the 2 vets than mismatch. That was my point.

What an ugly game last night. I think we can safely say that Hansack will never pitch for the Red Sox again.

You cannot say anything of the kind my friend. If Theo and his playmate Tito think Hansack is really a good pitcher who just had a bad day and has just had bad days this year at Pawtucket, he will most certainly be trotted out there again---to hell with what the fans think, believe and know. Those two are very stubborn people and it takes almost a roof to hit them in their collective heads before they reluctantly see stars and do an orderly retreat on a player they both like. We've all seen this before.

Hansack is a piece of s*** when it comes to being a quality pitcher, and we shouldn't ever see him again. That does not mean we won't. Unfortunately, I think we will, much to our collective chagrin. Now how much longer do we have to wait for Jon Lester?

Hansack is a sack of s***. I'm not looking forward to seeing him on the mound any time soon.

I agree with everything you say 700 and I hope you are spot on correct with your prediction.
