Game 1- Dice-K vs Kartsens

Game 2- Wakefield vs Igawa

Game 3- Tavarez vs Wang

I think these games could go either way, Id take Dice K in game one, a wash in game 2 and Wang game three. I hope after JT got slapped around last night that they will consider throwing someone else in that game. I doubt Lester would be ready in time, and thats a tough debut @ NYY. Maybe Hansack, or they will just throw JT again and down a bottle of Malox and see what happens.

I don't see them making a move before Sunday so expect sexy lips to be the one out there for the boys. If they do however I would expect it to be Hansack.

I'd say Game 1 is heavily in our favor, Game 3 is heavily in the favor of the NYY, and Game 2 could go either way. Even teams seeing Igawa for the first time are hitting him really hard, so hopefully the knuckler is fluttering and we can score Wake a lot of runs. Should be a fun series, although I felt farrrr more confident with our big 3 going at Fenway than I do about these matchups at The Stadium.

There's a possibility of rain tonight at Camden Yards. If the game gets called, we'll see Beckett, Dice-K and Wakefield in NY this weekend.

and there is a chance we get rained out tonight as well, potentially moving Pettitte's start back 2 days and into the sox series. I dont see them moving Hughes start. Or if they do, they start Pettitte tomorrow and leave Hughes in the minors.

they havent decided. I think they will likely go with Karstens just because he has better control. But if they want to try and win, they'd throw Igawa. Karstens didnt fool anyone his last start.

Ya and Igawa won't fool anyone either. Igawa should never start against the Red Sox, or Blue Jays, or anyone with a decent line up, he sucks and should on be in the BP or spot start against horrible offensive teams like LAA...

I am only advocating Igawa vs you guys because you seem to have trouble vs lefties not named Chase. Plus, if you can neutralize Papi and Drew, you increase your chances of success. Either way, I am not holding out hope here. I have a feeling the pen will be feeling the burn on Saturday.

They have trouble vs Leftys with decent stuff, Igawa has very mediocre stuff, I don't think Papi or Drew would have too much difficulty with him.

You want to see the breakdown of Igawa?

Below avg-avg fastball

Plus Slurve

Plus Change

Minus command and control.

If he were coming up through the minors right now, people would have him in the top 100 for prospects. But he'd be in AA with that SR. He should be sent down, but we dont have a choice until Mussina is ready.

He will never had a ML fastball thow. And that is the one factor that will keep him from being a ML starter... Maybe in the NL...

He throws harder than Zito and Paul Byrd do. You dont NEED the fastball to be dominant so long as you have good offspeed stuff. He does. Hs problem is strictly command. He and Dice have the same issues, ie working up in the zone. Dice can get away with it because he throws harder. Igawa cannot. I expect Igawa to get sent to AAA once we settle the rotation. He needs it. If he can sharpen the command and just start working belt down, he will be an effective back of the rotation starter. If he continues as is, he will be hot and cold as he is now.

I never said you need a great fastball to be dominate, but you need something better the 84-85MPH( he doesnt throw much harder then this). You can't be a soft tossing guy and survive in the AL East. Thats why everybody was saying BZ coming to the AL East would be a huge debacle, and this guy is the Japanesse version of Zito with the same fastball and change up, but not as good of a curve.

88 I might believe but 90, no way, The last game I watched him pitch in like a week ago he never went above 87 and sat around 84, 85 the whole time he was in there. Unless he threw change ups all game. I not joking with you bud, I seriously didnt see him reach that speed. Maybe it was just that game.

Currently the Pitching Matchup for the NYY series is:

Game 1: Dice K vs. Pettite

Game 2: Wakefeild vs. TBD

Game 3: Tavares vs. Wang

This is pending anymore rainouts tonight, but according to weather.com, both games should be undoubtibly be on tonight.

Game 1 is a toss up as is Game 2. Game 3 should go to the Yanks so if we survive this series 1-2, I'll be happy.

Animal, Wakefield will be facing Igawa on Saturday. I expect the Sox to make Igawa work and crush his pathetic fastballs up in the zone. Especially Manny, oh please Igawa leave one of your fastballs middle in to Manny ; ) Wakefield has given Yanks fits in the past so it should be a good game. That game is the clear favorite for the Sox to win. Game 1 looks like a sweet pitching duel between Pettitte & Matsuzaka. Tavarez vs Wang in Game 3... yea I'll be watching it but still should go the Yankees way.

Michael kay reported on his radio show that Igawa is being skipped and that he will be in the bullpen. He reported that Torre is not likely to use Igawa out of the pen unless the starter gets knocked out early. Kay said that unless Igawa can learn to pitch down in the zone that he will get pasted in the AL.

any hope of hansack getting called up to replace jt on sunday...at this point i'd rather have coco throwing 75 mph fastballs than jt out there
