I'm sure Matsui would have caught that one, wouldn't he have Jacksonian? Or perhaps Posada?

Would both of those guys have either scored or knocked in runs tonight to negate this score?

I don't think so. I appreciate your optimism and I appreciate you very much as a poster, but you're not going to convince me that I should take this win (if we get one) with a grain of salt because of injuries.

did you take the sweep last year with a grain of salt because of the Sox injuries? Do you make a caveat with every time you mention how many times the yankees have won the division to account for injuries? I wouldn't either.

once again, to make a claim that having Nieves and Melky in our lineup vs Matsui and Posada is an awfully dumb point.

If Matsuzaka can go one batter...it would nice to have him come out with a chance for the W (finally).

Mike Lowell...wow.

If I were a Yankee fan, I would be very, very concerned about my team's bullpen for the upcoming week.

That wasn't a coherent sentence. And to make the claim that the Sox better watch out when posada and matsui get back is also dumb. They don't give a rat's ass and neither do any of the other teams who beat the yankees. They beat them with even MORE pleasure because of those guys.

Your problem right now is not offense, or catching, or fielding in LF. It is pitching.

He gets the win already if the game ends without the Sox giving up the lead, doesn't he?

Yes he would, as a reliever has not come in yet.

I hope that reliever is Donnelly.

and I am not saying you should take this with a grain of salt. The only reason why you should take this with a grain of salt is because our SP doesnt deserve to be pitching above AA ball. But my point on DMats pitching poorly is regardless of the game outcome. The FACT is, he has been VERY hittable today without 2 of our better hitters. That is my point.

Hm. I actually don't know. It's possible...

To anyone that can answer...is Matsuzaka eligible for the W? How does it work if the pitcher comes out of the game while his team's losing and they go ahead next inning? If it's the home pitcher and the team goes ahead in the bottom half of the inning is he eligible for the W? Or would he have to go another batter?

Nice work, Pedroia.
