Wow, horrible call to end it. I did not know the strike zone extended into the other batting box. Anyways, the bad call aside, the Yankees had plenty of oppurtunities today and couldn't come through. Really pathetic game on the offenses' part. And I swear if I see one more bunt attempt I'm going to go crazy.

To be fair the 0-2 pitch to Damon was clearly a strike so I guess it evens out.

As for the offense, it's pretty much feast or famine at this point. Not the way to win games consistently.

To mimic Sterling' date=' shouldn't it be 'Yankees lose. Theeeeeeeeeee Yankees, lose!' ?[/quote']He has his obnoxious style, and I've got mine.:D

Well, Mussina has looked very good so far through three innings today, but he's still managed to throw 52 pitches. He is probably only good for six innings at the most today. The Yanks are up 1-0, aided by a bad call on an Abreu stolen base in the second.

That's what happens when you have a guy like Proctor pitch in games when the Yankees have a big lead, Torre; in big situations he'll pitch like that.

I'm glad that Torre finally got the reception he's had coming from the crowd.

scott proctor sucks

why torre pulled mussina after 95 pitches is beyond me

does he think proctor is a better option??

torre maybe golfing with cashman by the 4th of july

He took Mussina out because Mussina has shown over the past couple of years that he really runs out of gas after throwing 90-100 pitches. Proctor has been solid all year for the Yankees, and in a game they needed it wasn't a bad move. Moose looked really bad in the at bat against Kotchman and Torre didn't want to take the chance that he had run out of gas.

On another note, I'm so tired of Matsui. He seems to get a pass because he has come up with some big hits as a Yankee, but I think he might just be pasted his prime. He is awful defensively, possibly one of the worst left-fielders in all of baseball. He is hiting less home runs than in the past. But the worst thing is that he has stopped hitting the ball to the opposite field. It seems like he rolls an outside pitch to the right side of the infield at least twice a game.

By the way, I realize the Yankees can't be blaming the umpires, especially with how poor they're playing, but the 0-2 pitch to Aybar was pitching much a perfect pitch. It appeared that it caught the corner, and the umpire had been calling that a strike all game. Obviously, that's not excuse for walking him after being ahead 0-2, but it would have given the Yankees a second out in the inning, and a good chance to get out of it.

You want a good call there, then you have to take away the Abreu call, Karma man.

I assume, you're referring to the stolen base, and not the strike three yesterday.

As for the ninth inning, kudos to K-Rod for staying away from the slider against Jeter. Jeter was waiting to the last possible moment before swinging so he could determine whether it was a fastball or slider. K-Rod kept throwing fastballs to almost guarantee that Jeter would be late on it. They really got unlucky because Melky hit the ball as hard as you can hit it, but it was right at the right-fielder.
