It was a bad angle and I can see how the ump may have thought that Uribe's tag pushed A-Rod's lead leg out of the way before it got to the bag.

Anyway, A-Rod's getting hot again...as is the entire Yankee lineup.

Strange' date=' is it not? Vazquez has great stuff, ace type stuff. However his only really good years were in 2001 and 2003 in Montreal. He strikes out a tons of batters, he doesn't walk a lot, yet he hasn't really strung together any significant success.[/quote']

Not sure if you remember, but the only year he was with the Yankees (2004), he had a really good first half, and was selected to the all-star team (granted Joe Torre managed the all-star. On top of that he pitched the Yankees home opener that year and only gave up one run in eight innings. But the second half was a different story, and I really think his shoulder was bothering, because his arm angle appeared to drop. Considering all that they gave up for him (Nick Johnson and Juan Rivera), I would say that hanging onto him for another season wouldn't have been a bad idea. However, they saw an oppurtunity to get Randy Johnson, and they took it.

And during the time that it took me to type this Vazquez has started to struggle. Unfortunately A-Rod looked safe there, but he should have been running hard right off the crack of the bat.

I dont care how the umpire may have gotten it wrong. It wasnt terribly close IMO and the umpires have screwed up a bunch of relatively easy calls by being out of position.

You're not the only team that's gotten screwed at second base. That much I know.

I do remember that. Do you think his shoulder has been the problem for his lack of success in the past 2-3 years?

To be honest, I haven't really followed him on Arizona and Chicago, although I think I remember a lot of inconsistency. I think that it's probably a combination of things with him. Some of it probably has something to do with injuries, but I think there is a bigger issue. When he has his stuff, he is pretty dominant, but I just don't think he knows how to pitch when he comes out of the bullpen and he just doesn't feel right. I'll be very interested to see how his career progresses. By the way, it probably doesn't help him that he seems to be with a new team every other season.

for a second there' date=' I thought the yankees from years past started playing again. Then they reverted to their 2007 garbage all over again. 1 out triple, cannot get him home. f***.[/quote']

With Cairo's ability to handle the bat, a suicide squeeze might have a good choice in that situation.

Ugh, well, the shift hurts sometimes.

Sheff with 2 bombs tonight, 15 on the year. I can't wait until he plays you guys. He'll have a chip on his shoulder, and he's one of the few that seems to step up when that is the case.

Yeah, I mean he wanted to go to Boston just so he could stick it to the Yanks.

You're a doctor' date=' isn't that a sign of syphilis or something?[/quote']

depends on what is burning. And syphilis typically doesnt burn. You get a hard "chancre" on your junk first. Then it disseminates and you get a rash. Then, years later, it attacks your spinal cord or your arteries, or even your brain and makes you demented.

I think you are thinking of chlamydia or gonorrhea
