I wish Detroit could have stretched the 8th innings - so Jaba had to pitch. If he would have pitched today - then he is only elligible to pitch for 1 game(Wednesday) vs the red sox as per Jaba rule.

Oh well - can't ask more from Detroit.

If you think they would have brought in Joba, you need to check in to a place where they don't allow zippers.

Anything's possible with Joe Torre.

In a way I'm glad that Joba didn't pitch, because jacko might have gone down the river, unlike Owen Wilson. EDIT: I just realized how terrible that kind of was. My bad.

3-0.. gom's favorite pitcher hughes is pitching

I notice that Jacko hasn't commented on this game, considering the object of his man-crush is pitching.

PHILIP HUGHES f***ING SUCKS. His fastball was low 90's, his control was terrible, I have about as much control over my breaking pitches as he does.

He got bitch-slapped by a AAAA team in the Devil Rays. Way to keep the hot streak going, you piece of s***. We should have traded this guy for Teixeira. He is simply not a good pitcher, and I don't see what Jacko is in love with. He is just sub-par with EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS PITCHES.

At this point, I'm not sure who I'd rather have in the rotation, Hughes or Mussina. At least Mussina pitched well earlier in this season. Hughes had one good game against Texas. Other than that, he has been ABYSMAL.

He averages barely 5 innings a start, he burns out the pen, he gives up at least 4 runs in every 5 inning stint. Remind you of anyone? This years version of Jaret Wright. It's not only that he loses, but he blows out the pen trying to salvage his pathetic performance. Send him back to A ball. I hate this f***ing guy. Future All-Star my ass. Think we can try to peddle him off for Santana now? I love how Jacko wouldn't trade this guy for any of the top 20 pitchers in baseball, save for Johan. He is pathetic.

Once again Gom. You will be latched on to his balls hardcore come next season. He's 21. He is having a rough go of it. He'll rebound. I just dont think it will come this season.

Greg Maddux at age 21 he was 6-14 with a 5.51 ERA, the losses were most by any rookie that season. He didnt fully come around until 2 seasons later

This guy is no Maddux. Not even close. He's ass. Jacko, if he'll come around, great. He just shouldn't be pitching when we need to win. Send him back to the minors, let him try again next year.

Wow, the Yankees challenged Iwamura's bat, and the umps are taking it for an x-ray. I don't think I've ever seen that in the middle of an AB following a walk. Smells like gamesmanship to me. Prig move by the leaders in "class".

Yeah. The Ray's announcers feel it was just to delay Kennedy's next pitch, you know, to give him a 3-4 minute breather because he had thrown a lot of pitches that inning.

Kennedy looks like nothing special. Pena ripped a liner right to Cano after Crawford stole 2nd. Easily would have tacked on another run in the 3rd.

Kennedy is a guy who will take a longer time to adjust to the bigs than the rest. He has a 90mph fastball and an arsenal that consists of good but not great breaking stuff. His location is his biggest asset, and as we know, rookies dont get the corners in the bigs, so he will have some trouble adjusting.

I haven't seen him miss close and not get the call yet. The balls he's thrown were balls.

Awesome, now Maddon is challenging ARod's bat. Tit for m'fing tat Torre, you douchenozzle.

I forward a motion that Jacko excusing rookies for not getting called strikes because of the umps is no longer allowed on the basis of pitch #1 to Josh Paul. A good 6" off the plate and he got it.

EDIT: And he got both of the 1st two pitches which were borderline to Iwamura.
