Yankee relief pitchers, outside of Rivera and to some extent Proctor, simply have very little control of there pitchers, although the 1-2 to McClouth was a strike.

 

EDIT: Got out of it, but as I said in another the thread, I think the bullpen is going to keep this team from having any legitimate shot at the division. Even though the first four pitchers in the rotation are good, only two of them, Wang and Pettitte, are going to go deep in games. When Mussina and Clemens are pitching the bullpen is going to be heavily relied upon to close out games. As for when the fifth starter pitches, well I don't even want to think about it...

Yeah, Henn looked bad and Doumit bailed him out with the bases loaded by swinging at the first two pitches, which were both out of the strike zone.

Id say the Pirates do. Of course now on ESPN they are glorifying saying that there is no stopping the Yankees... ok the win streak started last week against the lowly white sox' date=' even the Yanks pitching staff can hold down this team. Agreed. When it's not Proctor or Rivera, it seems like the count is always 2-1 or 3-1.

When your 3-4-5 hitters have gotten on base 11 out of 12 times today you're going to score a lot of runs. As bad as the Yankee bullpen is, the Pirates bullpen is giving them a run for their money.

Well, Clippard was exactly as expected. Inconsistent. Solid one game, awful the next. He isnt ready for full time work in NY, but he had to be and he has been interesting to say the least. I would think that he gets demoted once Igawa is deemed ready. But good for him. I like Clippard, I definitely think he has major league stuff. But he needs to learn that major league players dont chase as much as the minor leaguers do. IE, find the zone more.

I'm not holding my breath. Wake might get hit pretty hard tonight, especially considering it's in Colorado, but Aaron Cook is going for Colorado, and the Red Sox should be able to outslug them.

 

EDIT: Besides, if the Yanks just take care of their own business the chips will eventually start to fall in place.
