The Oliver Perez of 2004 is back. I don't know what happened to him during '05 and '06, but the guy can pitch. Hasn't he lost some velocity on his fastball though? That's what's really strange. He's pretty young and he seems to have lost 4 or 5 mph off his fastball.

he walked 2 guys without coming close to the plate, Josh Phelps swung at ball 2 and Cairo hit a homer that was brought back. Luck is playing a serious part in this game.

Well yes, but he's also had a pretty good year. I won't go as far to say 2004 again (like I just did, but I'm changing that now), but he's pitching pretty well this year.

 

Again, what was his velocity three years ago? 98-99ish. Now his fastball's around 93-94 at age 25. Isn't that weird?

Very close. It's very hard to tell if his hand was on the base before the taqg was applied, even in super slo mo.

With the hand kicking up dirt as it gets close to the bag it's hard to see exactly when he touches it and the tag was high on the elbow. He'll always get called safe when it's that close and the tag is on the elbow.
