I remember when he headbutted an ump. Awesome.

I remember slow walks along the beach and those real moments of sweetness in Mexico.

Oh wait, that was Mo Vaughn.

I guess Felix is coming back out. I'm not sure what Seattle is thinking, given that he's only given up 1 hit in like 27 pitches or something. Let's hope something changed and he can't find the zone anymore.

Didn't Pedro once throw a perfect game and lose it in the 10th inning? I wonder if this game will go down in Felix-lore in the same way. This SHOULD have been a no-no, in terms of how well he's pitched and the complete lack of ANYTHING substantial from the Sox lineup.

Pedroia is slow. Earlier in the game, the ESPN announcers were talking about how DP needs to hit .300+ to hold down the second base position in Boston, because of his lack of speed and range. They said he'll need to be an exceptional hitter, because he doesn't have other exceptional attribute, but I am paraphrasing.

Didn't they also say a Gyroball is nothing different. Just a split fingerd change screwball?

Hailie Mae?

BTW, that last pitch was not fair, it should be outlawed.

I'm pretty sure Ted Kennedy and John Kerry just passed a bill...

yes, ESPN knows not what they are talking about. They think a circle change is a gyroball. f***ing idiots.

Great game by Felix. But you have to notice how pathetic our offense is. Sure you can expload against crap pitchers like Jeff Weaver, but when a good SP comes up he practically no hits us. Drew cant do everything here.

Summary: tip my hat to Felix. I have loved the kid since he was in the minors. He's unbelievable. Sox were helpless in that 'pitching wins world series' kind of way... no matter how good their offense was there is nothing they could have done to improve. He threw strikes the entire time, changed speeds, and kept the ball down for the most part. His defense made some nice plays (which will probably be over blown, they weren't THAT good).

It was like being put to sleep. I feel like Felix was humane and did it quickly!

These games happen in baseball.

Matsuzaka was good, but not great. I would give him a B+. He probably would have been good enough to win in a lot of other games this season. I think the situation may have kept him from being completely focused, but that's understandable.

This kid is supposed to be better than Cano? In what possible way? Cano is slow, really slow for a secondbaseman, and this kid is slower. Cano has quick hands and decent instincts. Oh, he also hit .340+ last year. I love it!

I'm too lazy to find the people who put Pedroia in front of Cano, but I would hope they would get jobs with the Red Sox as talent scouts.

Matsuzaka has looked decent, but far from the world-beater/savior I got the impression from reading here. He's only faced the Mariners and Royals, and is 1-1. I wonder what happens when he faces the Yankees, Guardians, White Sox, Tigers, etc.

I wonder how far Arod can hit a gyro ball. 480 feet?

dude, I take almost every chance to s*** on the sox when it is warranted. Felix wouldnt have done any worse against us, and we have the best offense you're gonna find. He was untouchable to a level I havent seen since Pedro.

Felix Hernandez is probably the most complete and polished pitcher the majors has seen at his age in decades (I'm sure a700 could clarifiy which pitcher that was decades ago). I wouldnt have felt too bad if Francisco Liriano had pitched that game against the sox and I don't feel to bad when Felix does because I think he's actually better. For a 21 year old to have his stuff, at his size and calmness, its fine.

I would be much more worried about the situation if Felix played for in the AL East or even for a contender. The fact is: he doesn't.

Where the hell have you been Gom? You come on here when the game is over and talk s***?

I wonder what will happen when Matsuzaka pitches when the weather is above 40 degrees, or when its not his first appearance or his first appearance in Boston... If you are questioning whether he will be a very, very good pitcher then you haven't watched him enough. He certainly wasn't perfect but he didn't pitch poorly by any stretch of the imagination.

o no, that comment wasnt just about this game, aside from destroying Jeff Weaver the offense is terrible right now. Lets look down the lineup:

I see qa .276 hitter, .258 hitter, .207, .214, .393, .233, .217, .143, .227. And for all intents and purposes Felix no-hitted us, we didnt even have a prayer vs. a good pitcher and it showed.

Yeah, I like to sit back and enjoy the games. I have MLB Extra Innings, and I would much rather sit and watch the game first. I don't find watching a game, especially when I have 4 games on at once, as enjoyable with a laptop on my lap.

So yes, I will come on both before, and after a game. Check the Yankee posts, I never come on during a game. If the Yankees are home, I am probably at the game.

I didn't say Matsuzaka pitched poorly, I just said he didn't impress me. If this is the best he's got, the good hitting teams will murder him. It's not like you have a pen to protect his lead anyways.

Seems like blissfully wishful thinking to me. Again, let the guy pitch more than 2 games and let the temperature get above 40 degrees. Also, he gave up 3 runs over 7 innings. If he pitched 9 innings that is a 3.85 ERA which is pretty damn good. So on a bad night he's a below 4 ERA pitcher.

I'm seeing a trend. If Gom thinks the Sox will win 86, that means they lose 76. So, with the current trend, Gom will post in 76 Sox game threads.

I'll fully agree with you on Pedroia vs. Cano, but I'd have killed last year for Dice k's mediocre start tonight. He's a very solid starter whose breaking stuff will be better in the warm weather. The breaking pitch is his bread and butter and he has a whole assortment of them.

Yeah, Felix was unhittable tonight. Good start for Dice-K - any other night this is a win or close.

The Sox are flat out lucky it wasn't a no-hitter - two hits that came close and one that was a hit? I am officially scared to death of King Felix.
