I was commenting on chinese torture's post who said try winning more than 1 in a billion years

I know, I am just having a little fun since it is a slow day at work. I think both teams have a chance to do something big this year. I am just getting tried of hearing how great the AL East is for people that do not stay up late enough to catch all the games taking place on the west coast. The NL west has 3 teams loaded with pitching, the D-Backs have a ton of young players just like the Dodgers and Rockies, and SD is going to be tough with all of its pitching. The wildcard winner will come from the NL West, and if you were to drop the Yankess or the Red Sox into the NL West their records will the same or worse. The NL West is more wide open and just about ever team in the division has solid starter to anchor the rotation.

The AL East is a better division if we wanna talk Division's. It shouldn't be as hyped as it is now, but ever team except the Orioles is good, or very up and coming.

No one east of the Mississipi has cared about the Dodgers since 1957 when they left Brooklyn.

Correction: No one east of the East River has cared for the Dodgers since they left Brooklyn.

l.a is nice

the way the barbed wire glistens in compton reminds me of the sunrise

the dodgers have a nice team in the nl west

they would struggle to win 70 games in the al east however

are you douchebags serious??

Compton is a city completely independent of L.A. I don't see the comparisons. It's not like we're comparing South Bronx with the rest of NYC or the Southside of Chicago with the rest of the city.

To say that the Dodgers would struggle to win 70 games in the AL East is a joke. To say that any NL team would tank in an AL division is a bigger joke. Look no further than the previous World Series. The Tigers played in the toughest division in baseball and couldn't beat the team from the weakest division in baseball.

Projections are purely hypothetical.

But there is nothing between the East River and the Mississippi, so I am still correct.

Rod, this has nothing to do with your post but rather that thing you have on the bottom of your page. Gil Hodges most definately deserves to be in the Hall of Fame and it is a real miscarriage of fairness that he is not in there. He hit 376 homers with the Dodgers, was the best defensive first baseman in baseball for almost a decade, won the first Gold Glove given out 50 years ago, hit 20 or more homers 11 years straight and drove in more than 100 runs seven years in a row, and missed by only two one year and I believe ten or so another. He was a terrific man in the clutch, and if that wasn't enough was a successful manager, leading the Miracle Mets to the World Title in '69. Strange as it seems, back in the 90's it was Ted Williams who was most responsible for keeping him out, sad to say, because he felt too many Brooklyn Dodgers were getting in. Not Ted's finest moment in my opinion.

gil hodges.......sure

Rose "accepted" his ban.

If guys like Ozzie Smith and Phil Rizzuto are in the HOF, I don't see why Hodges shouldn't be in. It's all politics, anyway. Babe Ruth didn't get 100% of the votes in his first time on the ballot (who seriously thinks he isn't a HOFer?) and it took Joe DiMaggio 3 tries before getting in.

The Pirates wouldnt tank in the AL?

Look at pitchers performances when moving from league to league. Just Red Sox related incidents show that Bronson Arroyo is a top of the order starter in the NL, but is lucky to be a number 4 in the AL. Josh Beckett was untouchable in the NL, but a home run waiting to happen in the AL.

7 game series. Take it to 162 and there is no NL team that could handle that beating. NL teams are soft.

Remind me to ban every single Dodgers fan before the season starts. It's the same people over and over.

yeszir, since you're the head honcho around here I figure you have more power than I have. Know anyone in the Red Sox front office? If so, use your influence to get them to get us a closer and soon. Today it was Brendan Donnelly who came up with boxcars, yesterday it was Delcarmen (and Hansen????. I still don't know if he pitched because I keep getting different reports), the other days it was Piniero. and Delcarmen before that. I don't know your take on this but the only guy left to give a shot at it is Okajima.

I hate to be negative because in all other areas I really think our team has as good a chance to get to the World Series as any other team in our league, but I keep thinking this closer spot could be the albatross that sinks us. I know if I get to Fort Myers on the 24th and the bullpen still looks like this it will bum me and a lot of Red Sox fans out. What's your take on things?

fred. I dont do this (calm a sox fan down) often, so listen up. It is f***ing spring training. Most pitchers come out with agendas and are not throwing to counts and situations. Case in point, watching Phil Hughes last week was frustrating too. Until I figured out that the yankees took away his best pitch for that outing. He was FB change the entire time until the last batter. The last week of spring training is when the entire arsenal is going at 100%. Until then, look for velocity and movement. If they get hit, who cares.

You never know until it happens. And it never will (I think the time limit already passed for the DBacks to go to the AL). So it will remain just that. A hypothetical.

Besides, that 7-game series means so much more than the regular season.

And the D-Rays would win the NL pennant?

I've said it before here. The difference between the AL and NL isn't as big as some people believe.

Yeah, just like little brother big brother. Little brother always thinks he can take big brother. Then big brother throws a haymaker in interleague play and shows who is boss.

Interleague play is in the middle of the season. A lot can change between June and September. I don't use that to measure one league's success over the other. Remember, the Tigers swept the Cardinals in interleague play.

you are basing your reputation as a league in total on a 7 game series between 2 teams. Yeah, solid logic. And btw, by midseason, every team is in the best form for the most part. Your logic is about as s***** as the air you breath.

Wait you actually believe the Nationals or Pirates with their torrid pitchings staffs would be .500 or better in the AL?

Oh and NL pitchers are given an automatic out having to face the pitcher. In the AL, the lineups are top heavy

Yeah, because three-game series between teams in the middle of the season mean so much more than the World Series, right?

I don't live in LA, actually. I get that stereotype a lot when I mention that I'm from Southern California.

Mainly the health of two rookie pitchers.
