Wow. Woefully out of shape. Damn Schill.

Baseball has always been the least physically demanding of any of the four major sports. Schill's got a gut, what else is new? He's never been the portrait of physical fitness, and I don't think he ever will be. I hope that he took the off-season to rest up and take care of the bumps, bruises, strains, sprains, pulls, and tears that he had. Now we're into Spring Training and he's a seasoned veteran...he'll do what's neccessary to get his body to where it needs to be to perform at a high level. There are a ton of "if's" facing the Sox this year, but Schilling getting into game shape is not even remotely one of them in my mind. I haven't a single doubt.

Schilling was the heaviest sox in 2004 and he had a great year. He looks heavy' date=' doesn't mean he's out of shape though.[/quote']

but he does look a lot bigger than last year...

True. I was the heaviest guy on my highschool team as a pitcher. I too have a belly, but I'm not out of shape. I can keep up and run with the thinnest of them.

Same here. I'm a 265 pound lineman and I run a 4'9 40 yard dash. Just because someone looks big doesn't mean they're out of shape. Not in the least.

Damn Curt whens the baby do? All jokes aside I think he will be good to go.

Lugo looks about 12 without his goat around his mouth... looks like he could be the starting SS for some team in the Little League WS...

Def agree BoSox, Lugo looks like he shed 15 years off by just shaving

Crisp is back to the hair style he had in Cleveland, abandoning the shaved head look he had in his first year with Boston

Lugo looked extremely young in his picture... I thought he was 12, haha...

I hope Coco can go back to his hitting days in Cleveland along with the hair...

It is good to see him slim and more agile it seems, maybe he can run faster, and steal a few bases here and there, haha... hope his power's still there, it should be I mean it's Papi...

"February 20, 2007

Wrong place, right time

By Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff

Wily Mo Pena, in his return to spring training, sent one ball soaring over the fence in batting practice -- and broke his bat in the process. Not only did he smash the ball, but shattered the barrel, with the biggest chunk landing over by third base. Afterwards, even Wily Mo expressed some incredulity at the bat breaking and the home run. Meanwhile, he's just getting used to his first start of spring training with the Sox. He arrived in town from his house in Tampa yesterday with his agent, Josh Zeide, and tried to arrive early this morning at the minor league complex."

I found this to be quit a amazing when I read about it, I've never heard of someone hitting a broken bat home run before...
