I'm just curious. Schill needs one more K for #3,000. Beckett is to be pushed back for his next start. So if today is game 4 of a 9 game trip and Schilling is currently scheduled to pitch game 9 on normal rest, if Beckett is pushed back a day he'd get game 9. Which means Schilling will get #3,000 at Fenway?

Probably correct.

That's assuming that he strikes out a batter, though. That would be a nightmare.

From today's Globe:

Peña may have injured himself last night. Eric Hinske pinch hit for Peña in the eighth inning against lefthander Eric O'Flaherty. Peña was seen flexing his left arm and pointing to his wrist before heading to the clubhouse during Hinske's at-bat. Peña had surgery on his left wrist in early July.
The carnage continues. I guess we might see Welcome Back Kapler again tonight.

I’m not sure about the status of Youk, but if he is expected to be out of the lineup for any length of time why not call up Carlos Pena and give him a shot?
