Both of these pitchers have cleared waivers and the sox are in talks for them to try and have quality arms here for the weekend.
Have any starters cleared waivers? Maybe Jon Lieber?

Schoenweis is not the answer nor is Hawkins. They need starters that can go 7 so losing a Schilling game is not so devastating. At this point, there is no indication that they will make any attempt to patch up the rotation or that there is anyone available to get. The fact that it was such a struggle to get by the O's was a good indication that the better teams will trash us. The Yankees are making easywork of the bad teams.

Is it Rhodes who hates Vizquel' date=' and says he will hit him every time he faces him?[/quote']

I'm not sure if he hates Vizquel. I do know he had a problem with a batter once who made him take off his earrings because they were distracting him. Rhodes said he wore those earrings for his daughter. If that batter was Vizquel, then it's possible.

Lidle made some unfavorable comments about Philly after he got raded, and Rhodes responded by calling him a scab.

No, I think that's either Jose Mesa of Jose Lima.

Anyway, I think they should pick up Schoenweis. He's a quality lefty, who's also a veteran. I think they need a veteran lefty in that bullpen. Now, I agree they need a starter too, but they also need bullpen help.

Yeah, it's Mesa because, I think, Vizquel said in his book that Mesa had a scared look in his eyes when he went in to pitch the 9th Inning of Game 7 of the World Series.

For the record, reports are in the O’s have pulled Hawkins off the market. Unfortunately for the Sox their biggest need, pitching, is still left unfulfilled. It doesn’t make sense to me why the O’s would decide to do this, considering they are going nowhere.

according to mlbtraderumors.com "Plenty of buzz going around in various forms of media that the Red Sox may acquire reliever LaTroy Hawkins. We'll know soon enough. The 33 year-old has, at least, kept the ball in the yard and exhibited good control with the Orioles this year."

Ye of little faith...Lieber is a quality pitcher' date=' makes only 1 heart attack per 5 days.[/quote']

this team is not even close to 2004. they don't need to trade prospects when they are falling out of the race.

Not really but keep saying that. Theo ain't gonna trade anything for this team when they have so many damn holes as it is. This team is flawed beyond belief and its not worth trading anything to fix.

Jsinger is right. The Red Sox are better off bringing up guys like Pedroia, Murphy, and some of their young pitching prospects to see how they fair in major league games. Hell, I think that they should even consider DFAing Loretta, just to see what they can get for him before they cut the guy loose at the end of the season. The Sox might as well start rebuilding this team now, because this season is over.

He created the holes. We need two starter. Pedro is in NY and Lowe is in LA. Both teams are heading for the playoffs. By letting Damon walk, he was forced to use his most valuable prospect and trading chip, Marte to get an inferior Crisp. If he kept Damon, he could have used marte to get some high quality bullpen help.

You don't use players like Marte to get bullpen help unless you are getting an ace closer in return. And Marte is really showing nothing so far with a .208 average and a .650 OPS. Pedro is hurt and who cares about him. Lowe is the one I would have kept because he is never hurt.

But Marte still had top prospect status when we had him. He could've been moved for pitching that would've helped fill a hole. Instead he had to be sacrificed to fill a hole created by the FO letting Damon walk. What don't you get about that?
