I thought hansen looked good for the first few batters. He was throwing his slider consistently. He just needs to learn to pinpoint his fastball a little better so he can get ahead. There is something that Papelbon does that Hansen does not do, but I can't pinpoint it. I think he challenges hitters with HIS pitch, in HIS location. Hansen seems to throw strikes that are not HIS pitches, but pitches that are much better for the hitter.

Also, a) no excuse for that guy getting a triple on that play and B) Lopez looked like he wasn't really blocking the plate or even thinking about it on that play.

I miss Tek :(

Hindsight Statement: Should have sold high on Hansen. Nothing to back it up other than what I see, but he may not have the head for this gig. Nothing about him says confident, not now, not ever.

I agree, although I think there is still PLENTY of time to sell high on Hansen, given his age and lack of experience coupled with his stuff.

Crisp walk, Loretta single, Papi HR, Manny K, Youk walk, Lopez double, Pena single, Sox win 9-8.

Wow. You've seen this game already? i thought it was live!

Gotta love those young arms. Never trade them even if they haven't proved that they can play at this level.

Edti: Don't look now, but both Tavarez and seanez have much better ERA's than Hansen. Hansen is closest to Tavarez and Hansen's ERA is half a run higher.

This season is a 'retooling' season. You obviously don't buy into the Theo philosophy and the multi-year plan to get out of the habit of overspending on primadonnas who aren't much better than their cheaper counterparts.

Right now its frustrating, but I'm looking forward to a few years from now, young arms or the result of trading those young arms... either way.

And to think, not too longer ago there was speculation that he could be next season’s closer.

I don't buy into not making the playoffs with a $120 million payroll.

Everything these TB announcers say is really, really inane.

They have had to fill a LOT of time in their jobs.

Although they did just say that Manny is "so impulsive, I don't think even HE knows what he's going to do from at bat to at bat." That's not inane, its just stupid.
