for anyone who does fantasy baseball, do you think Lester is worthy of a pick up? I've been considering it for a few days now.

It all depends on who your options are to drop.

It also depends what type of league you are in. I'm in a league where pitchers get points only for wins, innings, and saves. They get negative points for hits and walks. They also contribute to a team ERA. If you are in a league that counts strikeouts, he would be a plus. If WHIp counts, his whip is not great.

If it's an AL only league, he might be a good option. If it is a combined AL-NL league, there might be better options.

I think he is worth it, I picked him up along with Chad Billingsly and Anthony Reyes hoping to get the next Jared Weaver, Unfortunatly no one in those three has lived up to Weaver's billing but certainly Lester is a good pickup because you everytime he goes out there he is capapable of a win simply because he plays behind the boston lineup. The one thing he has problems with is rackin up K's and getting late into games but it seems as of late that he has been going longer. If he's available pick him up and if your not in dire need for starters, start him based on matchup untill you gain confidence in him.

The WHIP is a bit iffy with all the walks he piles up, but when he throws 1-hitters that doens't matter. If you are in need of wins and ERA, you're right he a good pickup in any league.

Probably yes. Especially if your bench pitchers are not that great. He has good upside to win more games this season.
