I really don't feel the sox need to make a deal by this trade deadline. The Sox only need a decent (5 inning) #5 guy and one is bound to show up on the waver wire next month.

For Miguel Cabrera you'd give up a truckload of prospects. I'd be willing to offer Pedroia, Ellsbury, Hansen + more. Cabrera is bona fide stud. There isn't a prospect in the current system that will be as good as Cabrera.

I agree.

I also agree with the person who said David Wells is the big deadline acquistion (it may have been in another thread). I hope he can eat innings and take the load off the bullpen a little bit.

There's just not much out there.

id move Hansen, Pedroia, Murphy and WMP for Cabrera. If somehow we were able to get him, maybe he could play RF? Then we could move Nixon for a pitcher.

in other news, why havnt the Orioles accepted this deal yet

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5825796

Tejada for Santana and Aybar

Baltimores FO has to get their heads out of their asses and realize they wont be competitve in the AL East for atleast a couple of years. If this is true, the Orioles should get this deal done as soon as possible.

Olney on BBTN:

Sox offered Coco to the Chisox for a pitcher (didn't say which one), and it was turned down

Also shopping around Loretta

It could be a very interesting weekend...

I wouldnt mind packaging Trot with 1 or 2 second tier prospects for the Indian's Westbrook if they were interested

All Trot has for us is his defense nowadays

In the game thread I mentioned the Red Sox should move Mark Loretta and Trot Nixon. They are decent players but we have more power in Willy Mo Pena and probably a better hitter in Dustin Pedroia down in the minors.

Alex Cora is also more than capable to help out at 2nd base.

Houston could really use some offensive help. All teams in the NL West could use offensive help. We need pitching!! Make it happen.

Likely Freddy Garcia, which would be a pretty nice move baseball wise.

PR-wise, it wouldn't send a good message to them pink hat fans!

Want to bet that that pitcher is Javier Vazquez? Theo has a man crush (or so it seems) on Vazquez and Contreras.

small tidbit, from a writer at BP:

Everyone's still watching the Red Sox, an organization that's plugged most of their former leaks. Whispers of Coco Crisp and Mark Loretta being shopped are coming from other organizations. The chattering masses (myself included) are trying to connect the dots here without much luck so far. Some of this--but not all--is smart use of misdirection. We'll know soon, I'm told. One of my best sources says the first of the Red Sox deals will happen this afternoon.

Whats bp?

Whats everyone think of Rodrigo Lopez? I like him a lot. I think if he got some morerun support, he woud bea great pitcher. He dominates the red sox.

Edit: I just saw it on MLBTR.

If I remember correctly his ERA is creeping under 7. Also the fact of a trade between division rivals, the O's would ask for at least 1 top prospect

Buster Olney' date=' just on ESPNEWS, said that if the Sox were to trade Crisp, there would be another deal to get a centerfielder.[/quote']

The only center fielder I know about that is on the trade block is the speedy/glove talented Willy Taveras of the Astros

I kinda like the idea of trading Coco for Buehrle. Then we could use WMP everday in CF, where his defense wasnt to bad.

Holy s*** thats retarded.

You keep Cocoa and move Trot..

Anyone want to bet 10 yen that Trot is gone by Tuesday?
