It's interesting...the Wings haven't played anyone with the offensive firepower of the Penguins and the Penguins haven't played anyone with the defensive presence of Detroit.

Wings in 7.

it should be entertaining hockey

the #1 team in the east proved to be a fraud

i thought the washington team was better than philly but philly was better suited for playoff hockey

the wings on the other hand have been in relative cruise control since they sat hasek for osgood, nobody has put any sustained pressure on detroits goalie,if pitt and specifically crosby can get some power plays and pressure osgood in the process, they may have a pop..

Anyone remember when Forsberg was relatively new to the league? He used to play with a unique combinaiton of offensive skill, grit and determination, an occasional touch of anger and the willingness to hit and get hit. Pittsburgh has two such guys in Crosby and Malkin.

One of the early "knocks" on Crosby was that when he'd get pushed around he'd want to fight and end up in the box. Malkin on the other hand sometimes just throws himself into an oncoming hit. Crosby has toned it down and Malkin won't continue to play with abandon, but right now I love the way these guys play the game...the smarts to stay away from stupid retaliatory penalties but an edge to not take too much s***.

In Detroit, though, they'll be tested by a very good defense and some hard-working pricks.

Maltby can be as abrasive as the Rangers Avery. Many a time, especially in the Wings-Avalanche rivalry, he baited, poked, prodded, cheap-shotted and then hid when it came time to drop 'em. He'll try all of that stuff against the Pens better players.

Draper is a fkn jerk and instigator and IMO deserved to have his face rammed into the top of the boards by Lemieux years ago.

Chelios? Calmer than years gone by but still a tool. Loves the cross-check and face wash...hate him.

Should be interesting to see how Crosby and Malkin deal with what I expect will be some frustrating shifts.

my friend played a team usa club with chelios in high school

hes from watertown ny and they still talk

he says chelios would cross check his teamates in practice and loved to slash ankles till someone attacked him after practice with a stick as he was showering

he laid off his teamates since then

pat lafontaine was on that club as well, too bad he had a glass head or he may have been one of the greats....

draper?

im not a lemiuex apologist but that douchebag did deserve the face busting he got

by the way

was ther ever a player who performed so much better in the playoffs than during the season than claude lemieux?

im wondering if he scored more playoff goals than regular season goals

Throughout his career Lemieux was noted for playing his best games during the postseason. On three occasions he scored more goals during the playoffs than he did during the regular season (1985–86 with Montreal, 1994–95 with New Jersey, and 1995–96 with Colorado). Lemieux retired with 80 career playoff goals, eighth all-time in the NHL.

I hated Claude Lemieux with a passion when he played against the Bruins.

However, in the playoffs, if (or should I say when) the B's were out of it, if I disliked the team he was playing against more then I disliked the team he was playing for, I thoroughly enjoyed his antics and innate ability to score the big goal.

Watch this series closely. Watch the fkn ******** a few of the Wings pull. It's stuff that if a Bruin did I'd say it is part of the game, but when I'm neutral I can't stand it.

I am really looking forward to this Cup final and will revel in a Penguins victory, should it go that way. I don't expect I'll be revelling, though, but ya never know.

Edit: Tomas Holmstrom is a a douche bag too.

How about that Pittsburgh firepower?

Detroit is in a different class. I know it's easy to say when there have only been 2 games in Detroit, but this series shouldn't last long.

tuff to break thru that wing defense

its been a blood bath for the penguins, every time i check a score theyre down 2 pucks and are short handed.

this should be over in 5

osgood played well the other nite but by and large theres plexi glass around him in the form of nicky lindstrom and that defense.

this wings team is excellent, make few mistakes and take advantage of oppurtunities when given...

i figure its over this evening and the best team from october thru june wins

i took the wings to go all the way after game 2 against nashville,i reupped the wager on saturday night but had to lay 380 for 100...i should be arrested for stealing.

What a game that was last night. That ending was remarkable. What started as an awful series actually turned out to be pretty damn compelling for the last few games.

Very good game last night. I wish Sid the Kid could have snuck that backhander by Osgood so we'd get some OT excitement, but good ending nonetheless.

The key may have been the Pens inability to make Detroit pay for Draper's stupid, stupid penalty when the Wings were already down a man. He follows a guy into the boards and although he didn't hit him real hard, puts his glove on the back of the guys head and shoves it into the glass...basically the same crap he's been doing for years and getting away with.

In the end, the better team won.

Yeah, that's kind of ridiculous but whatever, so long as he goes West for one year I'm fine with it. I like the B's signing of Ryder, paired with Savard/Bergeron he's likely to return to his 30 goal days. Now if we can get a top 4 defenseman, we're a contender in the East.

So, perhaps the hottest offensive commodity this off-season was Marion Hossa...and where does he land?

Right...the f***ing Detroit Red Wings.

How do they get these guys and stay under the cap? Jeezus H, if I'm an owner, I know what team I'm modeling my organization after.

I'm watching the Wings VS the Blackhawks and holy f***ing s*** the refs are pissing me off

4 point night for Lucic' date=' too, including a hat trick. Really starting to see what the scouts were raving about.[/quote']

Bruins are a good up and coming team. They are a scorer or elite Dmen away if you asked me.

Nick Zherdev is a beat! Rangers 8-2-1

That was awesome. Everything a lover of defensive hockey wanted to see -- except too many mistakes and turnovers, but a lot of that was forced because of the frantic pace of the game.

And hey, overtime shutout for TT
