anyone see the ottawa/sabres fight from last night?

I love Lindy's comments "Don't go after our f***ing captain"

Rematch saturday in ottawa.

There is a league wide sentiment that the Sabres can be intimidated or at least hit into submission. One thing I know is there is no respect of the Sabres physical side and thats more than evident when you see these type of actions.I mean the players lost for the Sabres to this Ottawa team are Tim Connolly and Chris Drury and we have to be able to stop teams from taking these players away from us.

Yesterday was a great step in the right direction as far as seeing this team stand up to this type of seek and destroy mentality. Its a lack of respect from Ottawa that leads to a Chris Neal purposely drilling Drury when Drury was vulnerable. The Sens and the rest of the league need to be shown it isn't going to continue, the time to act is now...

Yeah the Sabres definately showed what loyalty and respect for each other was all about. It looked like a pretty even fight, and it was great to see the goalies go at it. Can't wait to see the game tomorrow

I liked that they stood up for their captain, I think that's one of the biggest problems the Rangers have had in protecting Jagr. But Lindy Ruff is a complete douchebag, so it's hard for me to sympathize with him and Buffalo. He has a history of getting his players to play dirty, so he should not be crying foul. Play with fire, and it happens.

However, it was a cheap shot on Drury, totally unneccesary.

The Ottawa Senators are in the middle of everything. They're ALWAYS starting huge brawls. This one against Buffalo, the huge one against the Flyers a couple years back, and against the Bruins about 4 or 5 years ago.

the hit may have been late but it was not dirty. Neil can be seen tucking his elbow down at the point of contact, and it was Drury hitting the ice that caused his injury.

I've seen a lot worse not get called this year, including one by Adam Maier of Buffalo who knocked a Bruins rookie out with a ferocious hit to the head AFTER the whistle. No penalty was called.

Barry Melrose also said the hit, other than maybe being late (and bordelrine at that) was not a dirty hit. He said Drury has to keep his head up and also should wear his friggin helmet the right way for now on.

As for the Sabres? Sure, you have to send a message. But goons starting fights with stars is not the way, IMO. The Sabres simultaneously went after Spezza and Heatley, one guy chasing Heatley from behind and trying to bring him down with a tackle around the neck. I notice they didn't exactly go after Neil too hard the rest of the night.

Ruff is a fkn caulksucker, he was as a player and he is as a coach. Screw him and the Sabres.

i dont follow the game too much anymore but the games i have watched have been a lot better than the in previous years since they opened the ice up.

San Jose Sharks. Especially after pulling off that trade for Bill Guerrin the other day.

Problem with San Jose....Joe Thornton tends to dissapear come playoff time.

8-19-27 with a -14 in 46 career playoff games? More than the #'s, I've seen him fold like a card table and either play like a pu$$y or take stupid penalties out of frustration.

I agree the Guerin deal was good for them, though, so you never know...maybe they have enough guns now that Thornton doesn't have to carry them, because if he does I have a hunch he won't.

Prediction? Not sure yet, Nashville, Jersey and Detroit have what I think is the best goaltending right now, Jersey lacks scoring punch, Detroit is deep but lacks that huge offensive player, Nashville is balanced...its wide open as you could throw Anaheim and Buffalo into the mix too.

I'm rooting against Buffalo the rest of the year after Ruff's pitiful display vs. Ottawa. Did they go hard after Neil? No, they went after non-fighters. Drury got caught with a legal check because he was admiring his pass, then Neil kicked the retaliators ass and then kicked Maier's ass a few days later. Fuk Buffalo.

I like Minnesota if the Rangers don't make it. Good hockey area, and Marian Gaborik is one of my favorite players. If he's healthy, they can do some damage in the spring.

Age and salary caps. Forsberg bolted Denver, Yzerman retired, Shanahan left. Not the same squads they were during those classic playoff series.

Detroit is still relatively strong. Colorado is a shell of what they once were. They astill have Sakic but their next two leading scorers are Andrew Brunette and Paul Stastny...right, who?

Oh, and Joel Quenville is their Head Coach. Former Whaler player and Blues coach. What has he ever won?

i became a red wings fan because of yzerman , not to mentioned my dad was a wings fan himself so obviously i grew up watching the wings . I started being a mavs fan in 98 when nash was with them ( speaking of wich the mavs havent won it all , so how the f*** does that make me a bandwagoner ) . 49ers , again i grew up watching them with my dad (BTW the 49ers havent done much since 95 so again how the f*** does that make me a bandwagoner) so shut your mouth and stop acting like you know everything

unlike most canadian . i wasent raised by watching the montreal canadians , blue jays etc . wich explains the sports teams i route for
