More reliable than Tavarez though, by any stretch of the imagination. Take one out of the mix, and it would be Tavarez 7 days a week, and twice on Sunday.

hes the guy you bring in with runners on in that situation

 

although i think van buren should start to get some more looks, the kid has looked really good

 

right now in our bullpen i trust paps with anything, (timlin injured), i trust foulke, tavarez, delcarmen, and van buren decently, i dont trust seanez or riske

For middle relievers, ERA can be a little deceiving. I think WHIP is the most important stat for MRP.

 

Seanez's WHIP=1.59

Tavarez's WHIP=1.57

 

bottom line is, they both suck

in his last 9 innings, hes let up 6 BB and 9 Hits. Part of the reason he didnt let up any ER in these games is because someone had to come in and help him get out of trouble.

Ease Delcarmen into the setup, don't stick him in yet. Foulke has to be the setup until Timlin comes back, then use Delcarmen in the 7th in tight games, and 8th or 9th in 3-4 run games.

once timlin comes back, it should be Foulke 7th, Timlin 8th and Paps 9.

 

And when Foulke or Timlin need a day off, you have Van Buren and Delcarmen.

Riske, if he can pitch decent, is better than Seanez and Tavarez. Its hard to tell how good he is, since he hasn't pitched much this year. But i dont know how he could be much worse than the 2 other guys. One knock on Riske is that he folds in close games and blows leads.

....Seanez is pitching well now but he is streaky...he has a great month then falls apart. Ride him while he is hot. Tavarez is just a jerk and I never liked the signing because I never liked the man. In the end I think David Riske is a guy to bring in with a lead. Cleveland used him in that situation and I think he can do that for us. Keith Foulke is the same as Seanez to me where you never know who will show up...pick your spots carefully. I would also suggest having Craig Hansen ready to go sometime in August incase one of those players screws up or goes into a slump.

Livan Hernandez would be awesome. He is an inning eater, can go 7-8 innings even if he isn't dominant, 8-9 if he is, meaning he can give the bullpen some rest, making them more effective when it's needed. I would make a run at him, possibly trading a couple B prospects.
