Capeman, bad word. Getting him ON TRACK is what I should have said. Thanks for the heads up. Hey, we need every good man we can get to contribute to the cause. Let's leave the untracking to the other teams, ok?

I am not worried at all this is taking awhile. The Sox have not missed Crisp as of now since they put Pena in center. Crisp can come back fully healthy. What we know is the injury was likely worse than we thought but the fact the Sox have Pena in center has basically saved this team during that stretch.

Im looking forwrad to the day where our outfield will be like this

Manny

Coco

Trot/Wily Mo

Kapler

instead of:

Manny

Wily Mo

Trot

Mohr

Harris

Yaz my man, stop complaining. At least you found the Red Sox when you were still a young man. I was just about 60 when I discovered that they were the team I had been searching for since the Dodgers left Brooklyn. It is hell trying to make up for lost time and that is what I have been attempting to do what with me being on four Red Sox websites, five before I decided I couldn't handle it. Today I suggest to fans who follow baseball but root for no particular team to take a good look at the Red Sox but be ready to duck and cover because you will be bitten and there is no cure.

Riverside, those last two outfielders you posted do look a little sick to the eye and hopefully they will be gone in due course. Mohr has good power but has trouble finding the ball with his bat and Harris has speed but you cannot steal first base. We are holding our own right now and doing well but we ought to be better when we get at full strength.

Coco Crisp, out since April 9 with a fractured knuckle in his left index finger, took 20 swings from each side of the plate and also ran the bases on Monday.

Crisp could begin playing in extended spring training games before the end of the week. Depending on his showing there, he might rejoin the Red Sox around the first of the month.

I have watched him pull this s*** for too long. Last nights game was a lost cause, as are many games in the reg. season even for the best of teams. BUT, against the Mutts, we had 21 baserunners and scored 3 runs. That says something, and Mr. Dog ended our 2 biggest innings, including the 8th when we had our best chance to tie or win the game and he hit into a DP. That burned. It has been well established that he is a pile-on guy, but the last 2 yrs he has done enough when we needed him to, to salvage his reputation with yankee fans, granted sox fans would give him s*** at the drop of a hat, but thats another story. BUT, this season, when sheff goes on the shelf for 20 games and Matsui is gone till September, ARod was counted on to be a guy who needed to come through and carry us, and he hid on us. This was his chance to really do something. Surprisingly, in the last 14 games (we are 6-8 in those games), our pitching has kept us in it for the most part (aside from last night), and our offense with the personell we had should have been able to get the job done and they didnt. Sheff will be a welcome addition tonight, although his timing is sure to be a little off. May be a good thing he is facing wake. He can lengthen our order and take some pressure off ADog. At least sheff can handle pressure, he is too much of a prick to be affected by it....

we've been telling you the guy is a fraud for a few years now

he always waits for the biggest stage to perform his worst

he'll hit the quitest 45-120 that any man ever hit

and why does torre insist on pitching to ortiz

he hasnt been cornholed enough by him over the years?

are they trying to prevent manny from getting gehrigs grand slam record or are they just that stupid??

Riverman, that is great news. My only concern is how long it will be before Coco gets his timing down and can start hitting like we all know he can. It would certainly add to our team's strength to have him back in centerfield for us. As for your A-Rod Sucks, please, let sleeping dogs lie. The Yankee fans are all over him for his lack of clutch hitting when the chips are down; let them get all over him. Last night, for instance, he really came through for them-----when they were eight runs down in the ninth. That's what we want to see, but I for one just want to keep quiet about it and let their fans give the guys all the hell they want.:D  :o :harhar:

OOOPPPSS, I got you mixed up with Riverside Yankee man. Still, it is better for us Red Sox fans to keep our mouth shut about A-Rod and let you Yankee supporters get on his case. We have our own problems to work out. Have a great day.

good news on coco---let's let him get healthy 100% though before he comes back! As far as a-rod (and i am not piling on) goes--it's just quite simple. He is a great baseball player who plays well when he is comfortable, this is human! Other people (which are rare) are able to remain comfortable in tense situations and still perform their best (tizzle for example) Bad analogy but i will use it: in college my wife was the type of person who studied a little every day so she would be ready for a test and could get a good nights sleep before it. I was they type who would wait until the last minute and then get ready for it and do about the same---this drove her nuts! My wife would just get real nervous if she wasn't in a situatin she could control whereas i just adapted to the situation. (and no i am not comparing myself to an mlb player)

Bad analogy i know, but that's just how people are----everyone can perform their God given talent when they are comfortable,,,it's just a matter of staying comfotable when the tension is up---and as everyone has commented lately, e-rod has been pressing real hard of late!

this guys problems are self inflicted

look how many nations he jerked off before the WBC started??

im dominican

im from miami

im playing for them

no im playing for the usa....

memo to arod

do something memorable to earn the 25M before you decide what country actually wants you to be part of their team,as it stands now i dont think anyone wants you in this hemisphere

MTB, fortunately for us it is the Yankees problem, not ours. Of course, Steinbrenner has weighed in with some choice words on the subject and I'm sure that isn't much of a help. Anway, as long as the Red Sox can handle their problems we'll be ok. As far as Coco is concerned, his return is eagerly awaited but I want him back at 100% so that there is no recurrence of that injury.

Exactly! We'll make due till he is 100%

Hammer, right on the money. We need a fifth starter in the worst way and let no one tell you anything to the contrary, but you might have hit upon something when you hinted at a fourth starter. I cannot fathom what it is with Clement that keeps him halfway in the toilet. Maybe that knock he took last year is still ringing in his mind. Others have had similar mishaps and have come back. Could it be that he lacks toughness? The guys has great stuff and is frustrating to see him noodling his way to another mediocre season.

ahoy frodrick,,,me thinks that your confusing me with my younger counterpart MC Hammer..

who has a real good point.

Point taken Hammer. Got to keep you and your friend separated in my mind, but he did have a good point. Can we get some runs to Wakefield tonight? He is due to get some real batting support, don't you think?

Monday... thats good! I was hoping to see him back for the Rays. I hope Youkillis's production doesnt slimp once he is dumped to #8 in the lineup.

Whats the word on Wily Mo Pena? He hasnt played in 2 straight games and taged with the "precaustionary" template thats so ofton used. Whats the real deal? is he seriously hurt or will he be playing soon!?

Posted
RSR, that is great news. I only hope his timing is not that much off so he can contribute to the hitting attack. The speed and defense will be there but I wonder how long it will take him to get his hitting shoes on. We'll see.

Monty, I have heard that word precautionary bandied about many times and it always spells bad news. The good news was that Pena was cleared to play yesterday and our brilliant manager decided to give Harris another start in CF. Methinks our team has to work overtime with that "brilliant" field general leading them. Theo, step in and send Harris away before FrancoMa winds up batting him leadoff.

I dont' know how he could be cleared to play (as they said) and still be sitting on the bench in the 9th while mohr bats to end the game. He could have been the tying run--so i think there is more to this story!

Yes, there is more to the story and here it is: Terry is a nincompoop.

francona lost me back in 04 when he had curtis leskanic come into game 3 tied against ny in the 2nd or 3rd inning

curtis leskanic??

at that point no team had come back from 0-3 and this guy brought in curtis leskanic??

ever since then i havent trusted him

Crunch, whether we can accept it or not, Francona's winning of the 2004 World Series probably bought him five years of time with the Red Sox. Sorry to say that because I think most of us know he is very challenged in the strategy department. To have Pena ready to hit and not use him in that situation late in the game yesterday borders on the fringes of lunacy.

Coco Crisp will work out at Fenway Park this afternoon before flying to Fort Myers, when he is expected to participate in extended spring games Thursday and Friday. If all goes well, he will be sent to Pawtucket on rehab assignment for Saturday’s home game with Norfolk. Crisp has been sidelined since April 9 with a non-displaced fracture at base of left index finger.

Perhaps you don't remember Leskanic pitching very well in games 4-7 when he appeared in '04?

Why would you not "Trust" a manager for bringing in a pitcher(Leskanic)in a series that we end up WINNING? That's incomprehensible.

If we had lost that series then you could look back on that decision as possibly a contributing factor, and then make a case for Franconas lack of managerial skills. But, we humiliated the Yankees and went on to sweep the Cardinals and bring home a Championship that eluded us for 86 years and all you can say about Francona is "He lost me in 04" for bringing in Leskanic.

After helping the Red Sox win a Championship why in the f*** would a forgotten moment in Franconas 04 managerial season even matter?

He got a contract extension for winning the World Series, that is the stupidest notion around, he got a extension because, he's a good manager, the players like him, and he

wins, in 04(Tito's first year with the Sox) an 05 Franconas, 192-W 131-L, Joe Torre for 04 and 05 is, 196-W 127-L, We're talking "The Exalted Joe Torre" here, in the last 2 years he's won only 4 more games then, as some like to call him "Francoma" and Tony La Russa has won only 6 more games then Tito in that same time frame. Keeping up with The Torre's and The La Russa's isn't bad company for a guy in a "Francoma".

But, he did put in Leskanic......Unforgivable.

jsing, that is good news. The Yankees can moan and groan about not having Matsui for three months and Sheffield for the past two weeks, but we have been without Coco since the fifth game of the season and we've managed to hold our own. He can't get back and contribute fast enough for me. Thanks for the heads-up.

Crunchy, I think by the third game of that series we were all in a mood to revolt no matter who he brought in. As it turned out nothing would have helped us that night, but Curtis did come through big in I think the fourth game and wound up being the winning pitcher so by that time he had earned some points. I do remember, though, that I was ready to take the restaurant apart where I was on that October 16th when the game got out of hand. It got so bad I reinjured my back, wound up getting a case of sciatica which cost me a trip to Ireland and I lost #2,000 which was not refundable. My friend, you were not alone that night.
