Amazing pickups for the Sox are paying big dividends early in the year. Hat's off to all who participated this offseason. We got younger and stronger. Meanwhile the Yankees got deeper into George's pockets. Money well spent...........for the Sox ..Crisp will be a All Star for the Sox...I am excited.......Future's so bright ....Gotta weat shades!!!

The only one of those guys I don't like is Lowell. I'd rather have Mueller, but that's just me. Lowell is a Fenway (only) doubles guy who hits everthing else to the SS or Ks.

Its way to early to rip on Lowell. Yes he has a big contract but he has played a great defensive thirdbase and its not like he is hitting .180 this year.

I would much rather have Mueller, I will never forget the homer he hit off Rivera in Fenway. But Lowell is growing on me, his defense is silky. You forgot Gonzalez he has not been great at the plate, but he did basically win the game Schilling was pitching with his 2 RBI and his defense has been nice.

My question is....who considered Beckett and Crisp poor or tired? These guys are young studs, and everyone knew it!

Mueller will always be a Sox in my mind, unless he suits up in the pinstripes. But Lowell is a solid replacement, a Gold Glover, cant really go wrong there. Sure his bat favors the Monster, but he cant suck on the road alllllll year. And yea, who does consider Beckett and Crisp poor or tierd? If anything, they were never in the spotlight enough to fade and become "poor" or "tierd". They are just warming up to have great careers in Boston.

Lowell seems like a nice guy and all---but i am still a Mueller guy! He always came through in the clutch when we needed him to. (homer to win off riveria in the fight game, single to score roberts in game 4 of the 04ALCS, ect......) plus mueller played a great 3rd for us! I know we had to take lowell to get beckett, but i would still have mueller! With that said i wish lowell all the best!:D

Mueller was great and we could count on him, but he never really put up huge numbers, and lowell could do that if he gets back in his groove. So i think that it is a good pickup cause lowell might be able to supply more power to a lineup that needs some pop. But, i thank mueller for all the great memories that we had with him!!

Loved Mueller, but he wasn't coming back. Bad knees. But you can't complain about Lowell because without taking Lowell, you don't get Beckett.

Yeah, I am very happy with this team, especially for what the future will bring. I mean Beckett, Lester, and Papelbon should form up well in the rotation in the enxt couple of years, and meanwhile, Pedroia will come up and take one of our MINF's spots. Also, now our OF could form up to be Crisp/Pena/Elsbury/Murphy with Moss also a possibility. Only thing we really don't have covered for the future is a C.

C- ?

1B- Youkilis

2B- Lowrie

3B- Pickney

SS- Pedroia

LF- Pena (Less ground to cover)

CF- Crisp

RF- Ellsbury

SP - Beckett

- Lester

- Papelbon

- Bowden

- Buchholz

RP - Hansen

- Delcarmen

- Martinez

- Meredith

Please don't write all these prospects into positions. We're going to trade some of those guys away, and others won't work out. Pickney is not our future 3B, while Lowrie is impressive, don't bank on him. Same for Ellsbury and Bucholz. Don't count on these kids. I guarentee that is not how our team will look at any point in time.

Yeah, there willl be free agents signed, trades made, and injuries happening. And you can't count on all of those guys to end up being solid major leaguers, I can guarantee you at least 1/3-1/2 of them will fizzle out.

I agree that our team will never look like that. One person i would add though is stern. They have kept him around for a reason, and i don't think it's to trade him. He has done very well when given a regular ab's---and he seems to struggle with non-regular ab's. So i think he will be sent down when coco comes back so that he can play everyday in AAA!

Nice avatar by the way city:D

Kevin Youkilis is turning into one of my favorite players. I knew going into the season he wouldn't be your typical 1B because of his lack of power but he really plays the game hard. That is the perfect type of player. He hits for average and gets on base all the time. I feel like everytime I turn on a game he is on base. The hustle play he had before the Loretta walkoff homer was absolutly huge. Bust your ass and you get results.

As for the new guys....I think we already have more web gems this season on Baseball Tonight than all last year. Gonzalez and Lowell are very streaky hitters. They will be up and down most of the season but hopefully there hits come at the right times. Coco Crisp has looked strong in every aspect thus far and Mark Loretta was quite a steal huh?

As for other new guys....I think the bullpen will just get stronger as the season progresses. Rudy Seanez pitched better last time (despite results) while Julian Tavarez will be a real nice middle relief guy. I think a lot of us have gotten on Willy Mo thus far but in the end he will really show something. The one guy I'm not that excited about is Josh Bard....he has one assignment (even if it is a tough one) and he hasn't done it thus far. Tim Wakefield's second loss of the season was placed on Bard's shoulders for too many passed balls. Hopefully he can figure it out. Good start for the Sox and I can see them getting better as the season progresses and they get better with each other. It was great to see them come from behind....shows what the team is made of.
