not to sound like a women by repeating myself but i gotta figure if they traded hanley and nomar and have manny on the table every single winter

then nobody is really untouchable on this team

especially a K machine like pena

who has the plate discipline of a puppy on a plate of pork chops

the truth is this

based on some of their more recent spastic moves nobody knows what theyre doing in fenway and i think that goes for theo and his uncle larry especially.

of course you guys here seem to be in the know

so if you say pena is here for the next 10 years i'll take your word on it

calm down now, no one on here was going that far. I just know he'll still be on the Sox for 2007, didnt print in black & white Im banking on him being here for 10 years

231abs

72ks

71hits

15bbs

im not the 1 excited about the above crap

I am excited about his offensive line, while not playing full time (coupled with extended stay on DL)

71 for 231 (.307 avg) 14 Doubles, 2 Triples, 11 Hrs, 41 RBIs, 31 Runs

Given a full season, I wouldnt count a line of: 30 Doubles, 25-30 HRs, 90+ RBIs

perhaps this is why he doesnt now nor ever did he ever play every day??

Sigh

Again, Wily Mo was in line to be the starting left fielder this season for the Reds. They felt their biggest need was starting pitching, enter the Red Sox. Wily Mo is now in line to be the starting right fielder for 2007. Everyone knew coming into this season he would just be a platoon mate with Trot, hence who's in his contract year.

He's not playing every day right now because of Tito's constant affection to the veteran players who arent pulling their weight (Millar, Kapler, Trot)

i cant argue with that logic

lets see how it plays out

as far as im concerned i cheer for the name on the front of the shirt not the back

if i could cheer for canseco and rob deere??

then wily mo is easy

Hey, doesn't Adam Dunn play for the Reds?

I agree.

that's what they wanted.

and that's what they got.

great trade by the Reds.

And in time it will be a great trade for the Red Sox who clearly lack power in their lineup outside of Manny and Ortiz.

we had 86 years of patience

now with the pink hat and cell phone people occupying yawkee way

we're told to be patient again

f*** that

How about showing alittle patience to the FO that brought you that title you wanted. We could still be run by the Yawkey Trust and going on 88 years if you like.

Sorry. If the prevailing theme is that I am obligated to accept:

the 2006 edition of the Red Sox

the Arroyo trade

the non-moves at the trade deadline

the trade of Mirabelli only to get him back again

the hype job they're doing with WMP as if he is the next Jimmy Foxx

the shoving up my a$$ of the young arms as if they're ALL ready to rule the AL...

as a "penance" for a long overdue WS title, then I'm not buying.

Believe me, I can be very patient, I NEVER bail on the Sox, the B's, the Celts (ok, maybe the celts a little) etc. but it'd be nice to have confidence in where the team is headed and be able to see some consistency in direction and in the FO stated intentions...anyway, the point I was making is that no one can tell where the f*k this ownership group and front office is taking the team, and that bothers me.

I owe the FO NOTHING...if I thought I did I'd make sure I tipped my hat to Dan Duquette too, cuz like it or not, he played a role.

the front office that brought me the title?

stop it

you mean the people who brought us manny petey damon lowe and veritek??

or

the people who dumped lowe petey damon arroyo and tried to move manny the day they took over

and are now selling this patience ********

while charging 32.00 for upper bleacher seats while pimping off every single inch of the back bay....

when they charge minor league prices i'll be patient and enjoy watching the snot noses develop

if they insist on ass raping the family of 4

the major leaguers should be on the field

The Front Office didn't have to acquire Curt Schilling or Keith Foulke or acquire Orlando Cabrera at the trading deadline or sign David Ortiz off the scrap heap. They could sat on there ass and done nothing and what world series would we have right now. Thats right.....no world series.

no one is debating that those moves were key moves.

having more than one stud starter was a revelation in Boston.

And a closer? a legit closer? what a great idea.

The FO did make moves that helped bolster that 2004 club...that is not the point of debate.

The issue is clearly illustrated when considering the very things you mentioned as big 2004 moves...they got OC, they got Schill, they acquired a closer...they in essence filled holes in the most key spots in the club.

So why then are they trading youngsters for vets going into '06...then not making trades that could bring another playoff run...and now relying on fans patience, which may or may not be rewarded when all these youngsters they're NOT trading come to fruition?

What exactly ARE their intentions? Do they even know?

Ya know, many a baseball analyst said that the Sox had in effect "bought" several years of goodwill from the Sox fans by winning in 2004.

Based on the "patience" and gratitude being heaped on the FO by some in these Sox forums I'm wondering if that's a good thing for those of us who'd like to see another title before we're dead.

this front office went after jose contreras

they were beat by ny

this front office went after javier vasquez before they went after schilling

they were beat by ny

this front office went after carl pavano before they went after matt clement

they were beat by ny

this front office tried to retain johnny damon

they were beat by ny

this front office tried to retain pedro martinez

they were beat by ny

im not seeing the brilliance here that you are sir

in fact

i see a young kid kid and his crazy uncle in a boat without oars about to wash against an angry sea of red

I see brilliance in the Sox front office by making the Yankees up their offer. Even though Clement has been a hack for us, we have still gotten more out of him than the Yankees with Pavano who hasnt pitched since June 17, 05

the sox FO will go after Schmidt

they'll likely lose to NY

the Sox FO will go after Meche

they'll likely lose to NY or another team

they'll try to trade Manny to get out from under his contract

if they're successful, I'd be extremely surprised if they netted equal value

and so it goes.

there is a vast difference between having a plan and executing a plan.

outside of a few months in 2004, one could argue that this FO has been largely unsuccessful at executing a plan if indeed one exists.

vasquez went to ny because they had nick johnson on the table

we wanted vasquez

we got schilling

as far as ny upping their offers??

o no

not that

that really f***ed them up at the trade deadlines...they only added abreu wilson lidle and the other utility guy while we countered with.......javy lopez

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

every single move we make is in response to ny ass banging us with our heads stuffed in unflushed public toilets.....in calcutta

with that being said

matt clement should never ever ever be thought of as a success

hes caught vaganitis from pavano and will never throw a ball in anger for the sox again
