Yeah so with Zito and Foulke today my fantasy ERA is very high. Good thing I had Peavy's performance to balance things out and steady out my ERA at a lovely 8.71.

this has the real velocity readings. The YES gun has been off all game. RJ is sitting in the 92-94 range with 2 pitches at 95. Zito was 86-88 instead of 80-82 like the yes gun was saying....

The gun is probably fine. It all depends on where in the pitch's trajectory that the gun picks up the pitch. I remember reading an article that said a pitch delivered at 90 mph from the mound will cross the plate at around 82 mph after the drag force has slowed it down. I would imagine that YES calibrates their gun regularly, but whoever is operating it isn't picking up the pitch until it is closer to the plate.

the YES gun always does this. Last yr we were all wondering where Randy's velocity was, because he was regularly at 88. Then I saw the scoreboard mph readings were about 6-7 mph faster than the yes readings. So I got word of the site I cited and saw that the scoreboard velocity readings are about 1-2 mph faster than true and the YES readings are about 5-6 mph slower....

Which agrees with my assumption. The operator of the YES gun is picking the pitch up later, thus the lower velocity reading. I'm not saying he has lost 10 mph off his fastball since coming to NY. I'm saying the point of reference has changed.

I completely agree.

I completely agree.

It is just annoying that I cannot rely on YES' mph readings. Kinda like how I cannot rely on the head commentator fag Kay. I used to mute the TV and listen on the radio. But, I dunno what is worse, Kay or Waldman....

I don't know about that. Last year he gave up a boat load of Homers to number 9 batters. I think his velocity was down last year.

actual respectable teams that have a lead of 10 or more early on, usually have their backups in by the 6th inning. For example in which 2 times the Sox beat NY 17-1 last season, regulars were being pulled early around that time. As the guys on WEEI are saying now, its arrogance to trot out the starting 9 for 6 ABs when the lead is already 10+ runs

I was thinking the same thing until I checked the weather for tomorrow in Oakland. The yankees will likely be playing a DH on wednesday at jOakland, so the guys were getting their work in......

the majority of his HRs were off his slider. He was slinging it and it was coming in with no downward movement. Guidry has tried to lift johnson's arm angle, we'll see if it works. Last night, 1HR off a fastball. His slider was pretty good....

They seem to buckle down when they are coined the favorites

Who said they were the favorite for this series? Our offense tore them apart and Randy pitched good..simple.

Anyways....

I didnt see the game. I watched Ultimate Road Trip, BPTV, and the Pre-game show. Next thing I know i'm waking up in the top of the first with 2 outs. Then I shortly fell back asleep and wasnt able to catch any highlights this morning. But I did of coarse read about everything.

Soo ironic. Im never asleep before two..but of coarse on opening night I have to fall asleep.
