Since 911, these ballplayers have not been able to get away with lying about their ages, because of stricter documentation standards. A lot of the latino ball players gained a year or two in that one off-season.

Yeah, I think Real Sports is the one Bryant Gumbel hosts, and it was on his show. Several MLB players had to change their listed age after 9-11 because the government did a better job of checking up on foreign nationals with work Visas.

It obviously still goes on though. They cant catch every player. Sometime this winter an Oakland minor leaguer/reliever (I dont remember who, Jairo Garcia or Kiko Calero come to mind but not sure if it was either of them) was found out to have been playing under a false age AND name.

It was Jairo Garcia. His real name is Santiago Casilla and he is two years and 10 months older than he was listed.

If Papi had gotten good younger and played his whole career in Boston, I bet he could've had a go at the HR record.

I think older than Ortiz is, plus didn't Mo play in the field alot? Papi doesn't, so that should help.

Yeah actually, his first major injury with the Halos was when he was trying to make a defensive play at first.
