So far all the Sox fans predicted the Sox to win the division and all the Yankee fans predicted the Yanks to win

Okay, I'll change it.

1. D-Rays

2. Red Sox

3. Blue Jays

4. Yankees

5. Orioles

how do we have no pitching? I find it extremely funny every time someone says that. We have a closer better than yours. You remember what I did on the Bh forum, well here goes. You take the projected rotation of both teams and put out their numbers from last season...

Johnson 225IP 207H 95ER 211K 47BB

Mussina 179.7IP 199H 88ER 142K 47BB

Chacon 79IP 66H 25ER 40K 30BB

Wang 116.3IP 113H 52ER 47K 32BB

Pavano 100IP 129H 53ER 56K 18BB

NYY Total 700IP 714H 313ER 496K 174BB 4.02ERA 1.27WHIP 6.4K/9IP 2.2BB/9IP

Schilling 93.3IP 121H 59ER 87K 22BB

Beckett 179.7IP 153H 67ER 166K 58BB

Clement 191IP 192H 97ER 146K 68BB

Arroyo 205.3IP 213H 103ER 100K 54BB

Wakefield 225IP 210H 104ER 151K 68BB

BOS Total 894.3IP 889H 430ER 650K 270BB 4.33ERA 1.30WHIP 6.5K/9IP 2.7BB/9IP

based off last yr's stats with their respective teams (e/c beckett whose numbers on here are when he was in FLA), the yankee starting rotation as is currently constituted was better than the sox one. How's about them apples....

There's no way you can say Chacon and Small will have the same years that they had for a portion of last year. Plus we will have a much better rotation with the additions of Beckett and a healthy Schilling, so last years stats have no credibility. Also watch out, while we're geeting younger (beckett, papy, lester) your getting older (Johnson, Moose) supported by big question marks behind them (Wright, Pavano).

There are Devil Rays fans?

(no I'm a Sox Fan, as you could prly tell by the avatar, but I just wanted to change things up)

I think people who live in Tampa like the Yanks. They need to relocate the Devil Rays. I that note though, I think it will be a tight race for last between the O's and Rays. The O's downgraded and the Devil Rays didn't necessarily upgrade, but their guys are a year older and experienced.

It'll go:

1. Yankees

They'll unlesh their style of blitzkreig, on the hapless teams with no pitching (Devil Rays and Orioles.) They play them 38 times, so write them down for 38 wins. Maybe that's too high of an estimate, but the Yankees will dominate any team that just has average pitching. They'll probably win 100, because as we've seen in the last two years, offense wins in the regular season.

2. Red Sox

The Red Sox are more prepared to win the World Series than the Yankees are. The Red Sox have an way superior defense than the Yankees do. Plus, the Red Sox pitching has much more depth. Nobody should write off Curt Schillng, he was throwing 95 mph last year, and that's when he couldn't push off his ankle. He's also been able to stay active this offseason. I'm guaranteeing (probably spelled wrong) he puts up an ERA below 3.50 this year.

3. Blue Jays

They'd be in first if they didn't trade Hudson.

Are you kidding me? Tampa owns the Yankees.

In 2005. Like some of you were pointing out when Rivernator started bringing up 2005 statistics, what happened in 2005 means jack in 2006.

Okay, okay, let me rephrase.

Tampa owned the Yankees in 2005.

I have a few gripes with this. 1. just because the Red Sox defense might be better then the Yankees it doesnt make it good. You have statues in the corner OF positions. I've never seen Youkilis play first and believe it or not Varitek isnt as good behind the plate as his gold glove might suggest. (look at the stats)

2. Just because Curt Schilling throws 95 mph it doesnt mean hes back at all. Last year his velocity wasnt the big issue. It was the fact that his splitter was consistantly flat. You know that if his splitter is flat that takes away his K pitch and allows people to sit on his fastball. If he gets his splitter back he will be fine but I have too see it first.

Oh yes, the fielding stats are very telling.

just one little nitpick being that even though Lowell had a down offensive year, he was still the best 3rd baseman of the NL. Getting the same ammount or even more that Billy Ballgame gave us. More of a comfort level to Lowell is that former Marlin Gonzo is still on board with him. Youkilis might surprise, obviously upgrade over Millar. And backing him up is JT, enough has been said about this guy.

I never took any of those guys to task.(except Youkilis who I said I've never seen him play) They are a given. I was just pointing out that they maybe better then the Yankees but it doesnt make them that good.

Yeah it is when your among the worst in CS%.

Once again, not a great telling stat. Ask any scout in baseball, and they'll tell you Jason Vartiek is a gold glove catcher. He has a rocket for an arm, and he does have extremely quick feet. You can't possiblily say that Vartiek is poor defensive catcher.
