I explained in the last page I believe. I am a diehard Yankee fan, but being from New York it is impossible for me to hate, or even dislike a team that represents New York. Therefore I am a fan of all New York area teams. But my loyalties are with the Yankees.

in a few years they're going to have aging stars with huge contracts and no younger guys to back them up. The Mets are turning into an even bigger mess than ever.

Right, because Reyes and Wright are pretty old guys.

My bad, I didn't read that.

lol i've never met an acutal mets and yankees fan...

i'm not saying its impossible to have allegiance to more than one team, but its like being a dodger and angels fan...typically either you're one or the other, or your just a common bandwagoner (of which we have many here in LA). c'mon you're gonna tell me you root for both the jets and giants too?

Awwwww...you New Yorkers are so sweet. :D

I absolutely HATE anything and everything Cubs and I'm from Chicago. I was brought up to love everything White Sox and hate everything Cubs. Weird how those things work out...but it's probably due to their idiot fans.

Yeah, but not vice versa. A loyal Met fan can't like the Yankees.

No offense, but you and your brethren haven't done much to help us differentiate which Chicago fanbase is more idiotic.

lol, I am a Jets fan but of coarse, I have been pulling for the Giants as well.

IDK, I understand everything everyone is saying, but I guess the pride of being from New York, the generations of my family and this city going back to when my great great grandfather settled in the Bronx after coming over from Napoli. I just refuse to dislike a team representing this great city. Now understand where im coming from, its not like I root for all NY State teams (As far as im concerned the Bills and Sabres mean nothing). I just see no reason to hate the other team in the city, all they're trying to do is bring a championship back to New York as well. If they were a division rival then it would be different, but the Mets arent the Red Sox. I'm sure that if the Braves were still in Boston that a lot of Red Sox fans would still follow and root for the BRaves. BEcause the way I see it the Mets are in a totally different league, and they are not the ones who are going o stop us from getting to the World Series, so no reason not to root for them. Only time I dont root for them is if there is a Subway Series (which I have only seen once in my lifetime) because then, they are standing in the way of a Yankees championship.

I hope so. I really liked Jacobs, this is the one trade I wish we didnt do.

But I wouldnt be surprised if he did. Delgado, with his declining power, in that huge ballpark is definately going to decrease in his power numbers.

But Jacobs has to hit in Pro Player stadium-- not exactly conducive to huge power numbers.

I think ORC said it best when he said that in relatively short order (as in 2007 or 2008) Jacobs will eclipse Delgado offensively, but I doubt it will happen as soon as 2006.

What are you talking about? If he averaged 70 homers over the next six years he would be considered a god!!

Haha, sorry. What I meant was his average over the next six years would be .255. His total home runs would be 75, and his total RBIs 360.

lol thats what I figured.

Absolutely true. That was another point I was going to make in y post, btu at the time I was in a hurry. But I think Jacob's offensive numbers will be better is he is not exclusively a power hitter (as opposed to Delgado) but can spray the ball around better.

No but:

Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, Cliff Floyd, Carlos Delgado, Billy Wagner, Paul LoDuca, Steve Traschel all are.

And FYI, Reyes is a BAD baseball player.

NOt always, a friend of mine who is a Mets fan also follows the Yankees. Supports them and everything, just not when we're playing the Mets. I'm sure that many people are like that. But you are absolutely correct, as showed in the BBF poll (which I actually voted in), Mets fans are more likely to hate the Yankees than vice versa.

And FYI, Reyes is a BAD baseball player.

You're crazy. Granted, he has his flaws, but what kid his age doesnt. MOst of the latin players arent very good when it comes to pitch selection. But Reyes is extremely fast (Love watching those Reyes triples), a good defensive SS, very good arm, and though not a power hitter can now and then poduce some pop in his bat. I havent heard one analyst/media personell say that they thought Reyes was a badd player. Everyone projects him to be a very good player.

You may need to re-evaluate that one.

They had been, but the D-rays kept on asking for Heilman instead of Seo. The Mets moved on their focus to your Dodgers.

The D-Rays have improved their pitching staff for this season, I'll say.

Yeah, though he struggled to stay in the bigs last year, Edwin Jackson is a very good pitcher, who I think, based on what I have seen, will develop into a fine pitcher in the future.

Damn Dodgers!!!!! I really wanted Baez for the Mets!!!

Posted
Absolutely a good trade for the Drays. Getting Tiffany was a solid pickup and if Jackson could ever turn it around it would make this trade look lobsided. the rays traded baez who was 1 yr from free agency and carter for two young pitchers, one that was once the a top 10 prospect and another who is rising up through the dodgers system. absolutely a very good trade for the devil rays. anyone think they will send Jackson to triple A again or will they just throw him into the rotation right away this year.

as a dodger fan well i'm not as high on jackson as everyone else thinks. he's been inconsistent and injury prone the last couple of years, and has not been able to live up to the can't-miss label that was expected of him and other 'cant miss' dodger prospects(excluding our current untouchables in AA/AAA).

I still think we made a good deal by trading for a closer than can step in and make an immediate impact until gagne comes back, and in return only gave up expendable minor leaguers. It also gives us needed flexibility because of gagne's rehab, and with free agency coming up for both of them, we can deal one for the best package to a desperate playoff contender if we fall out of contention (unlikely in the NL West).

I agree with you. Very good trade for the Dodgers, for all of the reasons you listed.

I have a feeling Lance Carter is going to come alive out there. Former all star, good stuff, but has struggled last few years in Tampa since being booted from the closer's role. Maybe playing on a team like the Dodgers will boost his performance.

dunno. the dodgers were willing to give tampa what it wanted in terms of minor league talent/prospects...something the sox are now unwilling to do since we have already sent out our 'expendable' prospects to florida.
Posted
I don't think the sox will ever give in to the Rays demands. they would rather not give up any top prospects. They probably are targeting reed for centerfield and are content on going with cora at short. to me that is the best option that trading top prospects for the likes of gathright and lugo.
