i know for a fact hes dumb ....... i met him in boston man he could not even finish speaking ..what a bum ..... hes dead to me from icon to traitor ..what a bitch

Your an idiot for making fun of the guy who has a speaking disability. For the last time, Johnny Damon has a speach impediment, and if you were a real sox fan, you would know that. I really can't believe this thread hasnt been locked or something. Why make fun of a guy who has a real medical condition?

C'mon, are you serious? I'm an idiot? You come up with a user name which is meant to annoy Red Sox fans and then you ask why it bothers me. Why doesn't your user name compare the Yankees Championships to St. Louis, which has the second most. It is a little immature to design a user name that is meant to irritate, and then as why the intended target (Red Sox fans) is irritated.

Maybe he likes Arod and thats why he made a username after him?

or have ridiculous crap in their signatures that piss me off.

tell me again..who has ridiculous stuff in their signatures?? PLease enlighten me.

I think this is hilarious. A Boston Icon leaves, and everyone says "he plays too hard, he will get hurt", "he is selfish", "he can't throw", "he is a retard because he can't speak clearly".

This guy was literally God to Boston fans. We should be bashing LL or JWH for not stepping in and manning up, instead we make fun of a guy who was once a hero here. Sad.

Well in your specific case, take a look at the username you have posted over 1700 times with.

This is my last post in this thread. It should first of all be locked for obvious reasons like calling Damon retarded, and then further locked because it has gotten off topic, I cant' believe there are seven pages of posts in a topic calling somebody a retard.

I was referring to user names like "26 to 6", or "26 Reasons to Hate Me." AROd user names are cool.

No matter how much you try to rationalize or argue otherwise, the Yankees still have 26 World Championships.

Ive been posting with it since July, and you and two other people are the only ones who have made an issue about it. Tour avatar is as antaganistic as my username.

We weren't betrayed. Contracts run out. Players get old. Turnover happens. The team has not been gutted. If we deal the farm, the team will be gutted.

Furcal set the market for a leadoff hitter. We knew what we were going to have to pay him. Larry choose not to. Don't hate the guy because he took 12 million more. Its not like the Sox offer was close and he took theirs, 12 million is too much to turn down....FROM ANY TEAM. Its not a Redsox Yankees thing. Free agents are allowed to talk to any team, and generally take the best offer, this is not uncommon. For every Jason Varitek of the world, there is a Roger Clemens, Mo Vaughn, Johnny Damon.

I thought Clemens took the money from Toronto because he either got lowballed by Duquette or because there were personal issues involved. I'm not sure about Mo Vaughn though. Am I off?

Reading that post gave me a headache

Clemens left because Duquette and co. ddint like him, MO left for money I believe, and Damon left for reasons that we all know and have been discussing for about two weeks now.

That is my point. Players dont always take hometown discounts and shouldnt be expected to.

The Sox offered Clemens nothing. Duquette claimed he was in the twilight of his career....

The Sox were concerned about giving Vaughn money because of his weight.....

Then they were concerned about Pedros shoulder.....

Nomar and his wrist and groin....

Now they claim Damons arm, concussion and legs as an older OF didn't merit a big contract.

Strange how when every long term Sox players contract is up, they low ball them with excuses. Granted Vaughns career was pretty much over after 1 year in Anaheim, you never know what he woulda done staying in Boston.

I guess I don't understand why we as fans can't see that in terms of FA discussions, we ALWAYS lose big players. Nobody takes a discount. We have the most expensive ticket in baseball yet we continue to watch our favorite players walk out the door.

More anger. I have said it elsewhere, but I'll say it again that I was replying to the wrong poster. My bad. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am going to change my user name to "2004 ALCS--The Greatest Choke of All Time."

ugh it disgusts me to say this, but I can understand the FO's logic for those moves, well cept the one for Nomar, and you can see hwo that turned out. Clemens was coming off a bad year I think, Mo has always been too fat for his own good. I didn't think Pedro deserved anything more than a 2 year deal, and I certainly thought the Yankees went overboard in getting Damon (the only positive out off the deal is I get to rub it in for a lil bit to you guys :D )

Check the board. Others complained more than I.

your feelings about it is a higher level than others. there's a difference between giving the finger to someone on the road and tailgating them for 5 exits.

To go on further about my previous post, we replace our heroes with garbage.

Mo Vaughn....led to Jose Offermans albatross

Roger Clemens...led to he Steve Avery Jimmy Williams debacle.

Pedro Martinez led to the Matt Clement mess.

Nomar led to Ocab for half a season, then a Pittiful Renterror contract.

Damon will lead to......probally a mediocre prospect, or overpaid veteran who we will deal the farm for......

Why can't people see this? It is the front office.

you're confusing me. You state how excuses are made when contracts expire, and then you expect the players to give a discount to the team. Why should a player give a discount to a team that makes excuses for their unwillingness to strongly persue re-signing the guy.

If you host a radio show, you're contract expires, and your station says things like "his show is boring, he isnt appealing to the target audience, etc. etc. etc." would you give them a discount and re-sign with them, or would you go to the station that was happy about adding you to their program roster??

Correct me if I am misunderstanding your point, and if so I appologize.

Off the top of my head Clemens was 10-5 in 1996, hurt half of the year.

edit...he was 10-13 with a 3.63 ERA. Not hardly bad if his team scored him runs. League average ERA in 1996 was 5.15.

You are a very angry person. Will it make you feel better if I promise never to bring up 2004 ever again? Not!
