Octavio Dotel has agreed to a deal with the Yankees, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

Obviously, he wasn't kidding when he said his role didn't matter. The Yankees will likely use Dotel in middle relief after he returns from Tommy John surgery, which could happen in late April or May. Dec. 20 - 4:35 pm et

True. He thinks he has such gas that he's invincible. Not true, ho bag :) Anyways, I can't say I wouldn't have minded if he was on our staff though. I think it's definitely a step in the right direction for the Yankees. They are definitely bolstering up that bullpen.

We own him anyways. That's why he was booted from the closer job in Oakland.

I dunno I think this is a good move by the Yanks. We get Seanz and Mota....they get Dotel and Farnsworth. On the outside looking in I think they came out better than us but we shall see. Either way they still have a much better closer than us.

Very good move by the Yanks. Atleast they are suring up the pen. As for the Red Sox "owning" him. Even Rivera has 2 bad days against Boston. It doesnt mean you own him. As for him losing his job...he didnt, he opted for TJ surgery then Street became the closer.

6 games vs Boston, 0-2 record with 1 save, a 5.40 ERA (4 ER in 6.2 innings)

besides that. doesnt this give the yankees now a 13 man pitching staff?? At least one pitcher is deemed to be sent off.

Randy Johnson

Mike Mussina

Shawn Chacon

Chien-Ming Wang

Aaron Small

Carl Pavano

Jaret Wright

Mike Myers

Ron Villone

Tanyon Sturtze

Octavio Dotel

Kyle Farnsworth

In fairness to the Yanks, he was hurt then. It's kind of like some of our acquisitions last year. Low risk (money wise) and a strong upsdie.

you wouldn't be saying that if he was, say on, the Twins

are you really going to sit there and justify someone owning someone else based on 6 innings? lmao

btw Rivera finished up last season with 6 saves against the Red Sox. Most against any team. So much for that 6 inning sample size. Also after he blew the first 2 games against the Red Sox he only gave uo 6 hits let alone 0 runs. lol you guys crack me up sometimes.

the point is he won't be at 100 percent even late in the season if he makes it, like Wade Miller. This move is inconsequential for next season, and is not going to change the fact they have no one dependable to get them to rivera.

Because first of all, we play you guys most since your in our divison obviously, then we're the only team that makes it close enough to be a save situation and what team is the top for blown saves against Rivera?

No. He's right. You would think Rivera woulda had more against say the Jays, O's, or Rays. Don't take anything away from Rivera. He's an amazing closer who will dominate any given team. It was just unfortunate that the 6 saves came against the Sox.

Thanks for not making me waste my time.

I expect the loser of the Small-Sturtze competition in Spring Training to be traded. That would leave 12, and 11 on Opening day as Dotel likely wouldnt be ready by then. But a lot can happen, including trading Pavano or Wright between now and when Dotel is activated.

I would prefer to keep the usual 11 man staff. Having 12 last year hurt our bench depth.

Dotel is a good pickup. Low risk, high reward guys are the ones I like.

Farns-Dotel-Myers can be a pretty damn good bridge to Rivera.

I agree, almost like Stanton/Nelson/Mendoza.
