YOU are a drama queen, please. I can tell you about 10 of the top 10 most queer posts I've ever seen have come from you. You don't want me to name them, trust me.
Was that directed at me or 26 to 6?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. He says he wants to retire, but if someone begs him, he'll come back. Everybody has known that kind of person who says he doesn't want to go to the party, just so everyone else will tell him that he has to go, that it won't be the same without him, yada yada. Then, lo and behold, you convinced him. It's dramatic, manipulative, passive aggressive, whatever you want.

If he wanted to retire, he would have retired. He wanted to play, as long as he was treated a certain way.

The reason he retired was so that he could be at home with his family. Only reason he came out of retirement was because the Astros were offering him the opprotunity to pitch with his best friend and be able to be at home with his family. That whole agreement allowing him to stay home on road trips and leave games early and whatnot is what did it. He would have done it if it was any other team than Houston offering and if Andy Pettitte was not with the Astros.

SuperManny, what on earth does the Hummer have anything to do with it? They gave him the Hummer as a retirement gift (along with some other stuff), youexpect him to return it when he decides to come out of retirement? I think you are making too big a deal of this Hummer thing than it really is.

Posted

Honestly I could care less if he jacks a Hummer from the Yankees - I just mention it because a lot of the NY fans wanted him to return it at the time. They gave it to him because he retired as a Yankee not just because he retired. They dont send them out to every player that played for the Yankees.

But anyways - it was a retirement gift - if your not retired arent you supposed to give it back. Its like if your getting married and get all the presents and then right before you get married you break it off - then keep all the presents and tell everyone to have a safe ride home.

Oh and I would love it if the Sox got him back - bring him back home where he belongs. Like I said before I could care less even if he is a jerk - hes a great pitcher.

sox have contacted clemens

The Red Sox have communicated with Roger Clemens's agents over the past few days to express their interest in the right-hander. Sources close to Clemens told the Boston Globe he reacted positively to the scenario of a return to Boston.

Boston may attempt to lure Clemens by signing Brad Ausmus as a backup for Jason Varitek. Clemens has said Ausmus is the only catcher he wants to work with. It's still expected that Ausmus will remain in Houston, but he hasn't been pleased with negotations up to this point. Dec. 11 - 3:52 am et

If the Red Sox have Roger Clemens next season they will have the scariest rotation in baseball (assuming Schilling has a comeback year) along with an excellent offense, improved bullpen, and for the first time, real solid defense. That's a scary team.

I know. I was just thinking this:

Clemens

Schilling

Beckett

Wake

Papelbon

That is one scary rotation. (I think Wells and Clement get traded for bullpen help or in a package with a bat for another bat. Arroyo can move into the bullpen to help out there and be a starter in case of injury to the starters.)

Very, very good rotation.

If we wanted to improve our chances of getting Clemens, we should definitely sign Ausmus to be our backup catcher. Clemens has said in the past that Ausmus is the only catcher he wants to work with. He could be Clemens' personal catcher and would therefore be the source of Varitek's day off. Ausmus is a Connecticut native and I believe I heard somewhere that he grew up a Red Sox fan. This is all of course depending on what Clemens wants to do. I still expect him to retire, or wait until May 1 to see if the Astros are still interested in signing him.

Just wanted to add that Ausmus is from Cheshire CT and grew up a red sox fan. With or without Clemens he'd probably be interested in coming to the Sox. Before the All Star game at fenway when he was selected he added how extra special it was for him to go to the all star game being played at fenway.

Clemens still praises Jorge, so I think he would work with him as well, I would imagine at least.

For a while, I have to put my hatrid for the Sox aside and just imagine this as well as a Roger admirer and Roger fan. That would be an amazing pitching staff and an amazing way for Roger to go out. Of coarse I would have to wake up and realize that we gotta beat these guys, but it would still be amazing.

Of coarse, Roger can just come here and finish it off ;)

Yeah Clemens has been known to change his mind often, so I wouldn't surprised if he went to New York or Boston depending on who the catcher is. I still think he wants to stay close to Texas. If I were the Rangers I would go all out in trying to get him to sign there.

Bringing Clemens here would no doubtly give us the best pitching staff in the game. Having Josh Beckett as your #3 starter is amazing. Who would start opening day?

It is way too early to begin that discussion.

Id say The Rocket would, he is the best pitcher of the bunch, for now anyway. But if he was put in the second slot he would start opening day at Fenway, which would make for a VERy good game.

I think that would be the likely option. So that he can start opening day at Fenway.

As much as the idea sounds enticing, and as much as I still repect Roger Clemens, would it be fair to say it would be overdoing it?? As it stands now, Curt Schilling will most probably start opening day in his second to last year on contract, dare I suggest is there enough space to fill the spotlight for two perspective aces on the team? just a thought in looking ahead, but if they can they pull it off I'm all for it.

BoSox in 06'... this too is our year

I'm sorry but there's no way. He's not going to sign with a North Eastern team and get away from his family againg. He signs with the Astros, the Rangers or no one. Even the Rangers may be a stretch.

Reportedly Clemens said he was pleasantly surprised by the Red Sox contacting him and may consider... I am trying to find this source... the title of the ESPN article says this but is the same story about how the Red Sox contacted him...

Well it has to be the Rangers unless he wants to wait till may since the astros didnt offer him arb. If he wanted to stay with them so badly he would have agreed to not accept in order to keep negotiating but he didnt.

It would be wicked emotional if he did

I hope it's emotional for him when he cries as he gets booed off the field. If he signs with the sox (a team that he has bashed in the not so distant past) it will be purely out of greed. He should retire now. I'm sick of hearing about this guy.

Well, I'd much rather have him come back for 1 year if it's for the Sox, but if he plans to go anywhere else I'd rather just see him retire.

The fact the Red Sox have made some real nice moves has to make a veteran like Clemens interested. He has to think that with the rotation we have already he would have a great chance of going out with another World Series. What better way for the Rocket to go out then to win a World Series with the team he started with. You can't beat that....absolute amazing story. I just want to imagine and take a look:

Curt Schilling

Roger Clemens

Josh Beckett

Tim Wakefield

Jonathan Papelbon

....damn that would be fun to watch
