Who cares if Perkins was going to free agency? He's not a piece you build around, we're a top 3 title contender, and our window is closing. Perk's contract status isn't enough of a reason to deal him for an unnecessary player and trash.

We don't need a swingman. We needed a SF. We have Delonte who can play the 1 or 2. We needed a 3. Green was playing out of position at the 4 for OKC. It solved that need an d opened a hole in another. I'm not thrilled but I think we may be ok.

I didn't say I like the deal, but that is their logic. They had no small guys on their bench, and a pile of bigs, plus the possibility of a return from Wallace. Perkins could still be hurt. I have no idea, but I trust them.

Celtics traded Delonte West, Wally Sczcerbiak and the #5 pick (Jeff Green) for Ray Allen and a 2nd round pick (Big Baby).

We basically have all those players now. Except Wally obviously who's out of the NBA

Jeff Green is a tweener-forward, like Antawn Jamison. He doesn't really fit at either forward spot. For some teams (like the Knicks now or the vintage Suns), that might work. For us it's completely unnecessary.

As for the center spot, Shaq can't play big minutes, and whose to say he won't go down with something big? he hasn't been a picture of health these past few years. JO'N can be counted on for absolutely nothing, even when he's not 'injured' his body is just too fatigued to give us much. Krstic is actually going to have to play, and he's useless. Have fun hiding his sorry ass, Doc and Frank.

RT @WojYahooNBA: Boston has traded Semih Erdan and Luke Harangody to Cleveland for a second-round pick, source tells Y!

THIS IS CRAZY!

In all fairness, Cleveland's second round pick is going to be in the low 30s. Not that I like that deal either, but I get the feeling they're working on something bigger.

Very surprised by this deal, especially considering how often Doc mentions that the starting five has never lost a playoff series. Odd that they would voluntarily break them up.

Okay, now this makes no sense whatsoever. Trading away your starting center, and your backup point guard for a third string center and a backup forward?

You'd think they had something up their sleeve for doing something like this, unless there was something we didn't know about. As I see it right now, this is just awful, though.

They cleared up two roster spaces. I refuse to believe this is all that's going on.

There isn't that much that can happen at this point, considering it's after the TD.

The more I think about it, I suspect this is more of a move for the future than anything. They likely expect that they can get by without Perkins this year, and Green is a very nice piece to have in future years as some of the C's core players become less effective due to age.

At the end of 2010, they had a chance to shakeup their roster and start fresh around Rondo. Instead they re-signed Allen and Pierce. Its too late to make moves for the future, they're going to have a steep drop at some point, so why not atleast try to win a championship now?

And just because deals haven't been reported doesn't mean they haven't been completed. Wallace is another possibility.

I tend to agree, they probably should just go all in for right now. But I suspect management believes they can balance both, keeping the older guys here for a title run right now, while slowly preparing for life after the big three.

On the topic of Sheed, while there would be no expectations, I'd be interested in the Knicks possibly bringing him in.

EDIT: But I'd imagine he would be quicker to sign with a team like the Celtics.
